It was mid-tide when I shot photos today, so there were a few sneaky nuggets hitting the “inside” sandbars on either side of main peak Pangas.
This gentleman had the right idea. He was riding a beefier / floatier mid-length board which helps plane across soft-sections and reduces the board’s sensitivity to wind-chop blowing up the face.
Another mystery surfer high-lining across a nice walled-up right. If you have the choice of going left or right at Pangas, you’re generally going to be best off taking the right.
Another mystery shredder repping an NSR tank top for the paparazzi haha! He chucked some serious spray with this turn. If you want to up your style and rep the NSR attire, then stop by the shop and see what you like!
Big board, big reward at Pangas. It’s a good wave for simply cruising.
The wind was strong enough that it would hold you up at the top of the wave. This guy got to experience a little airdrop on this one.
Lucy was the only resident face I recognized out there. She was fired up today though! Some of her better body mechanics during her turns today.
A goldilocks amount of pressure on her back foot and heel side rail. Nice rotation of her torso with her arms and vision.
That’s some serious back-spray! The papagayo winds are starting to puff.
I wonder if Lucy could’ve tucked into this little section here? Hard to say, barrels at Pangas are very rare and tricky.
Ahhh what a perfect A-frame. A bit windy, but if the size and wind direction is right then it’s still really fun (especially on floatier gear).
Woahooaahh! Lucy dropped the hammer on this frontside carve! I think she’s really starting to get the hang of her carves and Pangas.
If that first turn wasn’t sick enough, she teed up with a critical end section smack to complete a solid combo.
That wraps up today’s surf action from Pangas. The temperature has been pleasant on the beach with the drier air and extra breeze, so I see more and more people jogging, walking, and playing ball on the beach. It’s pretty quiet here right now, but it’s likely to get packed in the next few days for the holidays. Tomorrow is forecasted to be a little smaller, but I didn’t notice the swell dropping throughout the day so I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s still some head-high sets rolling through tomorrow.

FROM THE ARCHIVES
Welcome back for the late afternoon sunset showdown. Decided, especially after seeing yesterdays epic sunset (I saw it all the way from Rivas though, I can only imagine how much sweeter it looked from the actual beach here at Hacienda Iguana). But everyone even in Rivas was taking their phones out to take pictures it..
