Somewhere in Nicaragua
Hey everyone! Welcome to Thursday’s surf report from Playa Colorado. It was clean and great for turns / maneuvers at high tide today. I surfed later in the evening at low-tide, but it was definitely better at high and mid tide today.
This takes power and style to the next level. Sick layback from this rider.
If you caught wave two or three of the set today then you often had to go to war with foam and whitewater on the wave face.
The first section was frothy and tough, but this end section was a gift for this goofy-footer. He tee’d up and blasted the wave shut.
One of the few opportunities for a barrel of the high tide window. Hopefully this guy logged some time behind the curtain on this one.
This little grom looked like he was out there for the express purpose of training his frontside carves for contests. You can tell by his attention to detail with his upper body posture.
If you weren’t convinced during his first turn, then you should be now! This was the second turn on the same wave and you can see how similar his posture and rotation is. Comp training for sure.
Yeah! This guy had a big smile on his face as he pulled into this beautiful left. The tubes were few and far between and it looks like this guy appreciated his good fortune and opportunity from the waves.
Down at the river-mouth right there were some long peelers rolling through. Plenty of time and space to set up for round carves like this one here.
There were a few people out today across the peaks, but there was a good rotation established. The waves were consistent when I shot at high tide so there were plenty of waves to go around.
Wham! Talk about getting vertical! This guy even nailed the time as it was closer to 1:00pm when I was shooting than 12:00pm.
I gotta admit that I even saw a handful at the mysto peak down deep south. Usually it is a mirage, but there were some fun looking lefts there today. Tomorrow looks like it will be fairly small, but I’ll still bring you the best action that I can. Thanks for checking in and hasta mañana.
