It was forecasted to be flat today, but just under mid-tide was definitely the window. Pangas living up to its reputation as the swell magnifier.
I think this is Mark, a repeat enjoyer of Pangas and our community. His shortboard had a fair amount of width which helped him cruise across some of the flatter sections on the inside.
Johnny boy definitely put forth a solid performance this AM. He rode through four or five powerful turns on this long peeler. He started off surfing left and opened with a smooth carve.
The wave was steep enough to carve on, but didn’t start to break for a few seconds after John caught it. After pulling off the first opening carve, he faded left and drew a deep bottom turn to shift gears and go right.
The lip is definitely not safe. John was like a coiled spring unwinding toward the lip.
Wham! John making the mid-length look like a shortboard again.
On the inside section John roped through a closing powerful carve. A lot of water was displaced on this wave!
Tony Silvagni is back down visiting for a bit. He is the king of longboarding (at least here in Southern Nica presently). I bet he could hang ten and do walking 360 spins while blind-folded.
Bertie also slashed through a couple of strong turns. It took more patience for him though, as the waves were slow and difficult to track down on proper shortboards.
An unknown rider setting up for a big whitewater bash. It’s all about staying in the pocket on shortboards at Pangas.
Tony can throw some heat and power through his carves just like John. That’s what it takes to be a professional, the ability to shift between power and style / flow.
He nonchalantly got radical on the whitewater section. He managed to stick the landing with all that board too.
If you weren’t convinced regarding Tony’s skill before, then you should be now. He pulled this move off with ease. I rarely see anyone do moves similar to this; half a cross-step while simultaneously driving through a carve on rail.
John gets the final action shot with a smooth carve to wrap up his 30 minute power session.
I was surprised by the quality of the waves this morning. I missed the window today, but am hoping to catch the favorable window tomorrow and hopefully the waves are just as fun as they were today! Happy Halloween!

Hey amigos! Welcome to Monday evening’s surf report from Colorados. It wasn’t as big as I was expecting, but there was still some push.
FROM THE ARCHIVES
Hey everyone! Welcome to Tuesday’s surf report from Playa Colorado. The wind was onshore, but not too strong this morning. There were even a couple of chunky barrels due to the size of the waves and extreme low tide.
Happy Halloween everybody!!! And welcome back to the first day of the week and the last day of the month of October!!! A lot of things going on today…. but most importantly, how were the waves??? Never had a Mystery Barrel Surfer for the cover image! Well, that should give you a good insider as..
Happy Halloween! It’s a spooky Sunday here from your friends at SurfNSR! The waves were once again nice and glassy this morning and although I was expecting a bit of a drop in the swell before the next one arrives we actually got a treat instead of a trick as it bumped up a little..
