Starting the day we had “La Baloy” into one of the tightest heats of the day in semifinals against 3 of the best Ticos surfers. This was like the big final heat because everybody was showing off, including Luis Chamorro. Here he is doing his thing.
Then we have Ashley “La Cenicienta” Blaylock into the final heat on bodyboard. This is the first time she made it out on bodyboard but she was doing a great job and the nice team was supporting her from the beach.
Later on we had Roque “Balboa” Calderon charging on the longboard and trying to get a place for the finals against one tico longboard charger and a guy from Panama. He was doing well but he didn’t make it to the final. Here he is working on a small one.
Everybody was out and we only have Rex “La Bestia” Calderon still alive for the finals into the junior category. Here he is doing the best he can to win this champiom ship against one kid from CR and 2 kids from Panama. We had perfect surf conditions during the morning but late in the afternoon the wind came on but Rexito told me these worlds “I GOING TO WIN THIS CONTEST FOR MY COUNTRY, I’M NOT WORRIED ABOUT WIND”.
The contest got to the end around 5:00 pm and everybody was so excited to know about the final standings specialty the Nica Team was waiting for the final results of the junior finals. Here is the reaction of the Nica Team just seconds after know that we have a Junior Central American Champiom Ship.
Alright folks, here we are with the final results. The Bodyboard woman category was won by a chick from CR but we have to mention that “La Cenicienta” Blaylock got the third place and now she’s thinking about to left the surfboard and start a new career on bodyboard.
The Bodyboard Mens category was won by a local guy from Panama and he got a prize of $ 100. The second and third place stayed with the tico guys.
On longboard we have Wilbert Albarenga from Salvador, this guy was killing it on the big panga and he got a prize of $ 200. He might want to be out and party tonight!!!
The woman category was commanded by the local chicks from Panama but this time Nataly Bernold from CR wanted to be the number one and she made it against 3 locals in the finals. Here she is so happy to get the tittle.
At the end we have a open final of ticos but this time the winner was Jason Torrez from Jaco Beach. He got a prize of $ 300 and the opportunity to sing one of his songs.
And we finally have our new Central American Surf Champion, representing Nicaragua Rex “La Bestia” Calderon. Now we are going to call him Sr. Rex, he is not going to be YOUNG Rex anymore!!!
The Nica Team was doing a great job during this contest and got the third place by team. We have Costa Rica on first and Panama on second place, then we have NICARAGUA, Salvador and Guatemala. We want to say thanks so much to the people who help these guys out to be in Panama and we hope you can help us to send the Nica Team next year to Salvador.
RECENT REPORTS
Hey amigos! Welcome to Tuesday’s surf report from Panga Drops. This lady either ended up a bit later than anticipated or misunderstood what it means to get barreled haha! I’ve got to give her credit for looking at this wave though. You don’t know if you don’t go (or at least look at going).
