The first shot we got is an unknown long boarder taking off on one of the bigger sets of the day. The set waves like this were few and far between, but they were definitely worth it if you had the patience to wait on the out side.
The first local surfer we are featuring today is Rodolfo “Calibilly” Viareal who is shown here with a nice front side snap. We think if you surf like this in the contest this weekend, then you will make it to the finals again.
Rex “La Bestia” Calderon made it on the report today. We have been worried about, because he had not made it on the report in a few days. He showed us today that he is still around surfing good as ever!
Here we have Pedro “El Cacaste” Flores, one more time in the surf report, with a cool snap on a good looking left. Pedro couldn’t be at the last contest, but he said at this one he is going to be a big threat for all the other juniors.
Luis “La Baloy” is shown here sizing up all of his competition for the contest. He said he is ready to sumo stomp anyone who tries to stop him from winning again.
Here is Juanito “La Mosca” with a nice, fast floater on this left. He might be one of the youngest competitors of this contest, but here he is showing us his skill and determination which can help him do well in the contest.
This the last shot of the day we have a long boarder picking off on a nice set wave. The forecast is looking a little better for the surf during the contest this weekend, although there might be some rain we have to deal with. We are heading up to Popoyo tomorrow so we will see you then!
This afternoon, the waves got even better so we surfed again! Light winds, light crowds and nice barrels were the call today. Check out the line-up shot.
To start things out we’d like to welcome Jon Rose down to Nicaragua. For those of you paying attention, Jon just completed a mission to surf the worlds longest wave – the tidal bore at the mouth of the Amazon River. You can find the video on Surfline or click the photo above. Welcome to Nicaragua Jon. It was nice surfing with you. (Hey Henry Morales, are we allowed to say that?)
Here’s another guy we don’t know. I guess you can call this a “stand-up barrel”.
Here’s an unknown pale rider on a pretty wave. The rights were working out there today.
One last parting shot of Jon, setting up for a little left hander. Actually, he got closed out on the inner section of this wave…but this shot was pretty cool. Thanks for checking in with NSR. We’ll be back on it tomorrow.
RECENT REPORTS
Hey amigos! Welcome to Tuesday’s surf report from Panga Drops. This lady either ended up a bit later than anticipated or misunderstood what it means to get barreled haha! I’ve got to give her credit for looking at this wave though. You don’t know if you don’t go (or at least look at going).
FROM THE ARCHIVES
OK, so the Nica surf team left for Costa Rica today. The final count of sponsored surfers from NSR was 7! Special thanks to all of those people who donated money to the cause. Without your support, this would have never been possible. The team will check into their hotel tonight and have a couple..
