I checked Colorados first this morning, but it was running too fast there. But I nabbed a few pics of Heyner attacking some rights over at Pangas.

He even managed to tuck into a few tubitos out there. That's when you know there was still some size and favorable wind.

John John Florence is that you? Heyner surfs Pangas very well.

I walked up the beach to get a perspective of the action. Crispy clean!

Layna was one of the MVP surfers this morning. She was pretty much splitting peaks with Heyner. She took the lefts and he took the rights.

She did grab a few rights as well. when you see head-high waves on the sets at Pangas, then you know it's not totally soft dry-season conditions. It felt like a "swell day" during dry season.

Heyner made good use of space on this right. You gotta drop down low in the flats in order to set up for a sharp bottom turn.

He threw a lot of spray up top, but got a little hung-up. That's the tricky aspect of Pangas. Maintaining speed through soft sections.

He read this corner section perfectly! A successful tubito to polish the ride.

Layna also looked for some shade off the takeoff here. The lefts usually peel and don't pitch like the rights, which makes it trickier to find tubes on the lefts out there.

Jeison is no stranger to surfing Pangas. He knows the strategy.

That strategy being to keep one's rail engaged and always be prepared to "open up" toward the whitewater behind you.

Pangas can be a bit monotonous, but it will improve your precision and rail work.

The quality of the wave is very important at Pangas. It's very difficult to do much out there on a flat, crumby insider. But the outside sets will tend to be cleaner and steeper. More opportunity for stronger carves like this one.

Layna closing the report with a finale outside left set. The speed from the drop does feel good out there.

It was a beautiful day at the beach! Definitely starting to feel like dry season, but the wind isn't ripping yet. Hopefully the crazy offshores stay away until late January or early February haha. Tomorrow might be a touch bigger. Hasta manana.

PANGA DROPS
Hey amigos! Welcome to Thursday’s surf report from Panga Drops. There were some decent sized sets when they rolled through. The wind was light offshore, which made for a fun morning window.

Hi everyone! Josh back behind the lens for the next few days. Wednesday’s surf was subpar, but still better than yesterday. The wind was at least a little better today. The main issue was that the water was dirty as the rivers at both ends were flowing.
