Somewhere in Nicaragua
What’s up everyone, I am Eric and this is NSR’s daily surf report. Pancho and I hit the beach early this morning and scored some great waves, but as luck would have it we didn’t bring the camera! So, when we went back to the beach to take photos the surf had gone to crap! Small, wrong tide, and a light onshore wind. Not many shots of the waves today but we’ve got some pics from just hangin’ at the beach and chillin’ out.
We had a big rainstorm today that lasted for less than an hour, but still flooded the streets and had everyone running for cover. It reminded me of summertime back home in Florida. Here’s some locals waiting for la tormenta to pass atĀ a little bike shop on the side of the road.
Even when the waves are bad (which rarely happens) there is still plenty to do in Nicaragua.Ā You can tryĀ horseback riding, hit up the canopy tour, hike through the jungle, check out the volcanoes, wreck havoc in your rental car, or just chill on the beach with a cold cerveza and wait for more waves! The wet season allows for some killer scenery.
These Howler monkeys are all over in the trees around here. They can sound intimidating, like big gorillas at first, they are a little curious too and will stare at you for a little bit,Ā but they are harmless and only attack gringos about half the time!
This shot was taken by our man Carl at our shop up north. This little girl was cruisin’ the beach on horseback. It can be an awesome adventure for beginner and veteran riders alike.
Pancho and Queso brought their daughter out to the beach this afternoon. They also have another baby on the way! Congratulations you guys!
If you really wanted to get wet and catch some waves this afternoon, there were some ok sets coming through every now and then. Plus, there was nobody out!
This is Pancho’s daughter again… Safari, she’s only 22 months old and already loves the water. If you see her in a few years she’ll probably be learning how to shred like her old man!
Pancho made us an insane dinner tonight. That filet of fish you see is fresh red snapper, or Pargo en espanol. This is a pretty typical dish here in Nicaragua and after living here for six years, Sanchez has got this recipe wired!
There was a real cool sunset tonight, and pretty much every night here in Nica.Ā Ā Ā Ā We have a big contest happening at Playa Santana tomorrow and for the rest of the weekend, if you’re in town check it out. The guys that will be surfing are from every country in Latin America, there will be some big names throwin’ down some sick manuevers. Happy 4th of July! The size of the surf dropped notably today. There were still good sets, but patience was key (again). Hard to believe there were no takers on this one!
Hey amigos! Welcome to Thursday’s surf report from Playa Colorado. I saw some of the biggest sets of the year today. There were epic moments, but it was still a bit slow between the high quality waves.
