Somewhere in Nicaragua
Hi everybody this is Juan bringing you the surf action. Before we get to the surf conditions for today we want to welcome the newest member of the NSR family. Today is Mel’s first day with us. He’ll be in Nicaragua working with NSR for the next two months. When asked about Nicaragua and his position with NSR Mel responded “It’s awesome, kind of a cliche, but, the waves are awesome, people are great and Juan’s the man with the plan. Without him, I don’t know what I’d be doing right now.” Go to our Facebook page to help us give Mel a nickname.
This morning we woke up to some head high waves with clear waters and fair winds. The wind picked up out of the southeast a bit more later on in the early morning, putting some texture on the faces, but there were still some good waves coming through.
A bunch of clean lines broke all the way down the beach. The lower tide was working better into the mid tide, making the waves more hollow and fast, and then the waves became peaky and misguided. There was still a hittable section every set though.
Keep your eyes on the prize when cutting it high and tight. This guy broke the nose off his board and had to get some Ding-All from the NSR Surf Shop just a 7 minute walk away from the break.
This is Carl, getting a drainer all the way through to the inside and exiting cleanly. All the work is worth it when you get barreled like this everyday.
Everyone was getting some fun ones. The waves got just a bit smaller later in the session but there was plenty of power to go around for everyone.
Someone got their desserts this morning. The crowd started to pick up in the later hours of the morning. Still, there were some hidden gems that went unridden, waiting for the next taker.
Mel, butt dragging his way into the report. Tired of the crowd and increasing wind, Carl and Mel trudged off to the NSR Surf Shop to hide from the sun for a bit. Expect tomorrow morning to be about the same as it was today, with a light wind in the early morning, fun at low tide juice. This is Juan (with a little help from his friends), signing out.
