What do you think we did this morning? I’ll give you a multiple choice question: A. Shot photos, B. Surfed a great session, C. Had fun, or D. All the above.
Anytime you see “D. All the above,” that answer is correct most of the time. Pacho Sanchez had an epic morning and surfed well so he opted for D (he shot photos last night so that counts).
He found the light at the end of the tunnel and the waiting rippable section. Thank you for rallying the crew today, Pancho!
Carlos Caliente is always up for the morning surf. He was fired up after the big GSW dub last night.
The ocean was a little fired up too… The swell filled in around sunset so Santa came a few days early!
Jan from Surf Sanctuary has stayed on the nice list and was rewarded accordingly. No coal in his stocking!!!
The peak we surfed was pretty fun this morning; however, some other peaks were looking great too. Spread the crowd out and see what’s going on down the beach.
You don’t have to ask me twice….. Nice wave hombre!!
As much as a sick frontside tube looks, I’ll surf the wedge. A backdoor backside barrel a day will keep the doctor away…
If there is a left barrel, Pancho is on it and in it! I think hunting barrels and sea monsters are his two biggest passions.
Hot Karl linked up for a few as well. It wasn’t an epic barreling day, but the veterans still filled their quota.
Hace Queso got her fair share too! Check out Superwoman’s nug!
She is selective about her waves so you know she picks off a good one. She’s had a busy day processing new inventory orders so we were stoked to see her get a few. Yeah Queso!!
Pancho, on the other hand, scoops up all he can get. Hey bro, after you dive for that lobster, tell me how Rogue One was.
The waves in this area of Nicaragua are unbelieveable. Within 10 miles, you can find world class beach breaks, points, reefs, outer reefs, and a wedge. What more can you ask for???
That’s why DLite will never leave. Combine those beaches with 330 days of offshore wind every year and you’re stoked!!
They split the peak but DLite took the better side. Being a veteran here, he knows how to get the job done!
Kenny Smith slipped out for a few waves too. If you see him at the spot, you’re doing something right.
For those of you who follow NSR regularly, you know we usually try and do something special to help the local community around Christmas time. This year we are proud to support CREA! – The Nicaraguan Education Resource Center. They have been doing excellent work in Limon for the past 5 years and this year they are about to break ground on a brand new facility. This will be a true game-changer for the community and will provide a long term benefit to the community and the people who live here. The land for this project was generously donated last year and they are currently soliciting donations to continue funding the buildout. There is no minimum or maximum – everything helps! By next year, you will be able to come down and visit this facility, participate with the kids and see first hand, the impact CREA! has on our local community. Please help you you can.

Here is a little bit about CREA! Nicaragua is paradise, but it’s also the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Education levels, especially in rural areas of the country, are alarmingly low. To put it in perspective, the average number of total years of schooling a rural Nicaraguan receives is 4.9 years. Yet despite a poorly equipped education sector, rural communities in Tola are now getting the educational support
The Nicaraguan Education Resource Center known in Spanish as CREA, is inspiring Nicaraguans to empower themselves and their communities by providing educational resources. Functioning in the rural communities where NSR is based, CREA is working with children and youth through its three main initiatives:Library Services, Educational Outreach, and Youth Development.
Help us give the gift of education this holiday season and join us in supporting CREA!
While we are discussing the holidays, remember NSR closes early at 3pm on Christmas Eve and we are closed for Christmas. Otherwise, and for New Year’s Eve and Day, we are open normal hours (9am to 5pm). Also, there will be an epic beach party at Pili’s Tiki Bar for NYE. Swing by, or spend the night, for the live music and drinks.
We met an amigo from South Africa this morning. Hey bro, you take this fun wedge and give me JBay in exchange!!!
Who is excited for the weekend? Pancho raises two hands. The weekend is coming but also his parents are coming today!!
A lot of today’s waves were gems. Others were mean monsters. Any takers??
This one should have had somebody on it!!! Ok everybody, it’s time to snag lunch, check the surf, and plan out the afternoon. Thank you everyone for checking in and stayed tuned for more shots. Hasta en la manana primos!!
