Strolling up to the beach this morning we were greeted by clean offshore conditions which look like they may stick around all day today. Waves are about shoulder high on sets and the water is super warm again.
At low tide today there were lots of closeouts, with the occasional fast corners. This guy on the green board is about to make the most of this one.
If you got the right one and were able to make yourself small enough there were even some little tubos to be had. Yeah, Sean!
This is what happens when you’re “just having a look”. Hanging out on the should here can really ruin it for the guy in position. Have fun, but please be considerate.
Shouts out to our neighbor, Rutciel, repping Venezuela and making the most of her morning.
Speaking of little tubos, bro in the blue rashie got himself a dirty one this morning. We have the full sequence, hermano, so hit us up at[email protected]if you’d like to see em.
Don Pedrisimo was sitting way down the beach in front of Senderos picking off little solo nugs. Better hunt that new access homie!
Nica surf team Captain, Sean Pearson, made an appearance at the beach today….hucking and hacking as usual.
You could almost call it head high on the sets today. Anyone for a little beach volleyball this afternoon?
Home town hero, Kevin Cortez got a couple out there too. Ya, he made it.
Teach em young! They learn how to provide for their families at an early age in Nicaragua. Handlining is one of many essential skills for a grommet growing up on the coast. Thanks for checking in. This little utility swell starts to back off tonight and into tomorrow. Beyond that the forecast is looking good. Keep us locked to your Bookmarks bar and check us out on FB (Nicaragua Surf Report) and IG (@surfnsr). Holla!
It was pretty crowded because all the surfers from around the country arrived today to at least have a small taste of the waves before the contest.
Among all the surfers in the water there were a few that stood out from the crowd. Here is Sean Pearson throwing buckets of water on every turn.
Representing the Santana boys, Mario Martínez was part of the show.
The Resano girls were here too, have you heard about them??? This is Candelaria going strong on a bottom turn.
It´s great to be the coach when you get to play too!
The last few years Dexter Ramirez has being running the show behind the curtain. Him with Juan Carlos Sandino an others have dedicated a lot of hours of work to get everything ready before the events, and a bunch more hours under the sun judging and making sure each event goes smooth. Good job guys!!
While everyone is going to be enjoying the big swell of next week… I´ll be navigating with some friends from Texas and Colorado (US, not Iguana) the Río Grande de Matagalpa across (real) jungles of Nicaragua all the way to the Caribbean on a SUP. The plan is to make a documentary about the adventure, visiting indigenous population in the area. You´ll get to know about my trip once I get back in 10 days.
We had visitors of all kind today. Hopefully tomorrow and Sunday a lot of people will come to watch the surfers and to have a great time at the beach. Have a good week!
RECENT REPORTS
Hey amigos! Welcome to Monday’s plus-size swell report from Colorados. There were some good windows throughout the day, but you still needed to be patient and in the right place at the right time. Some epic ones to be found though.
FROM THE ARCHIVES
Hola primos and welcome to the NSR report with Parker! We received another dumping of rain last night so the conditions stayed similar. Check out our shots!
