Somewhere in Nicaragua

The waves were super small, mixed up with some mid day onshore winds and not a whole lot of people out surfing. So it was pretty tranquillo out there.

Luke didn’t mind at all. In fact he was having a blast out there catching all the little windy peaks to himself.

Josh is another person you can aways count on seeing, rain or shine, small or big, onshore or offshore. Practice make prefect right?

Speaking about practice makes perfect. Here’s a good example. Not sure how many of you made a lay day Sunday and watched the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach today, but I’m so stoked for my friend Kanoa for taking first place and winning the whole thing!! Way to go.. I’ve watched you surf that pier since you were a little grom in every condition and now look what you got as a reward. Congrats buddy!!

These waves today actually look A LOT like California waves. The only thing you wouldn’t know through this image is the tropical difference in weather. The water was about 83°F with a humidity of 96%.

Which actually allows you to move a little more freely here than most months out of the year in California without all that rubber.

Wind slop never looked more inviting.

The locals watch the action straight out and the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach from their iPhones; the best of both worlds. What a great time we live in, right?

I do have to comment and say that for how little the amount of people who were out surfing this afternoon, there was some shredding going down.

Despite the conditions too!

Maybe with all the contest stuff buzzing in the air, it made everyone want to push their surfing a little more today.

Whatever the case, well done amigos!

I mean if you rolled up to this, would you be stoked, over it, go try and find another place that might look better, or just call it a day and go watch some the biggest live broadcast surfing contest of the year?

Josh caught so many waves today … I know, I was his whiteness. But looks like he was maybe going to try and do a double header. Surf then go watch some more surf, but not before eating an entire pizza to refuel from todays marathon surf sesh!

I couldn’t believe it when I saw a few people running down to surf. It amazes me how quickly we can forgot how deep the surf stoke can be. I met Evan’s (pictured) friend Kandace on the beach earlier who explained that they had just got here and will be here for about 8 days. This was their 4th surf session today.
WOW – can you say SUPER STOKED!!!

There were a couple of guys from the “Pico Tribe” out there ripping!! I can’t say I actually meet them (YET) but I did see their stickers on they’re boards. So I assume they’re from the “Pico Tribe”, welcome down amigos! Look forward to seeing you out surfing all this week! Hopefully you’ll be around for that big swell next weekend.

Well, it’s another weekend in the books and especially for my friend Konoa, today I can imagine he’s smiling from ear to ear being $100,000 richer and taking the prized title of the US Open right in his own backyard. Just remember though, Its not about money, it’s not fame and it’s not always glory; it’s all about being able to dance like you’re dancing like no-ones watching on a beach in Nicaragua!
