When we arrived to one of the spots we thought we’d check first, there was no stopping Mike D. from gunning for it, as the water had ideal perfect conditions with very little surfers on it. Go get em Mikey!

The lighting, wind, tide and yes, also swell was just perfect for this spot this AM.

Bruer, taking in the elements on his trusty twin fin.

Tropical warm water, surfing fun waves with a few of your friends, how else would you like to start your day?

As the tide started to get just right for this wave, it seems like some of that swell that was supposed to be showing a little more today manifested itself with some outside little sneaker sets like this.

Luckily Al was in place for this one outside so he could have some tubos para his desayunar.

He even left a little room for some dessert, “off the top cake”.

The vibe was pretty mellow out there, which is why Mike and Bruer found some time to party it up by sharing a wave. They are related, so in actuality this is a family wave.

There were a few locals out. Sean here, teaching his young grasshopper students what he’s been perfecting at this spot for as long as I can remember. I think it’s safe to say, Sean was about the same age as the kid in the foreground when he first started surfing this very same wave.

Some female ripper talent was out as well.

Like I said, not too many surfers out, but the people who were here to share some fun waves were having one heck of a good Saturday morning surf!

Miguel the “Marlin Whisperer” Dagito a.k.a. Scuba Steve, still has some paddle strength post 500 lbs 8 hour Marlin fight..

We joked earlier when I asked him if he knew where the quick release was while he was strapped to that 500 lb giant fish and what he’d have done if that thing decided to take him for a ride out side the boat. We both chuckled…. Glad he’s still here to tell the tale!

He dedicates this wave to the Taste Buds back in Philly. Yewwww!!!!
Ok, you’re right! I can’t tell a fish tale like that and not deliver some kind of proof… so check out this little portion from a really long video from their live view stream that was taken of this giant sea monster breaching twice for the SUBU crew; while Scuba Steve was locked in!

Back to the surfing action… The boys had there fill of some tasty waves, but a surf exploration isn’t a proper surf exploration unless you charter off to check out some other surfing spots. So we all decided to roll the dice and leave some fun waves to see if we could go find the same if not better waves. The Phiily crew would also like to give a BIG Shoutout to Bird Gang and Rick “The Carpe Catcher” Rymes!

Sure enough, when we got to where we thought we should check out next, there wasn’t another single person in the lineup. The waves weren’t quite right (yet) since this place is a little tide dependent, but we saw some really good potential.

Bru-dog, a.k.a “The Commish” on a front side runner!

and it kept running…

This thing was like Forest Gump, because it just wouldn’t stop.

Yeah Bruer, not a bad wave, hows them arms for that paddle back out though?? This spots not only a leg burner, but it’s also noddle maker of your arms!

Mike D. Not to confuse with say, a particular Beastie Boy Mike D, but this Mike D. was on fire all day.

So Hey ladies, Make some noise & Ch Ch Check it out!

Cuz he’s Body Movin’..

slow and low that is the tempo.

So what’cha, what’cha, what’cha want?

Meanwhile, Philadelphia Jesús is over here walking on water, sinking his teeth into a sick little left!

Watcha think Al, is this some holy water or what? I think Al says YES!

Alrighty my new amigos! It has been one heck of a fun day exploring with you. You came, you saw, and you did what I think almost everyone here comes to try and do which is conquer and hook the biggest damn fish seen in these waters by some very experienced and seasoned fishermen. Nicely done, and I have to say it was my pleasure cruising along side you three amigos all day today. Safe travels back home and we look forward to seeing you back down again real soon! Cheers Hermanos!! ~
