Somewhere in Nicaragua

Regardless of the (literally) messy surf, there were two really dedicated dudes out ripping it up in the lineup.

We also had “Team Colorados” training in full effect, to help keep that stamina and endurance level at 100% throughout our slow season. Way to go boys!

Of the 2 amigos I was referring to, this is one of them. I find it pretty fascinating the dedication some surfers will endure despite the worst conditions. And yes, these are probably some of the worst ever here.

But that top turn is a diamond in the rough!

I think he might have just got engaged with Miss Nicaragua!

For every single surfer, there were at least double the spectator count.

Oddly, I’ve personally seen more waves like this in my lifetime (quite the opposite to what you would normally expect to see here on the NSR report). That’s because I lived more than half my life in CA and that place is seasonal at best; and can get as good as Nica is consistently, maybe a quarter of the year, if it’s a good year; hence the reason I now live here.

The other dude out was going Dexter on these little sloppy waves!

Seriously, just murdering these unsuspecting little innocent mush burgers.

I do love a good vigilante plot, especially if it involves a good surf story!

These hombres were trekking it up the road, so I sorta followed. If you look close enough, they weren’t coming to slay surf, but rather slay some fish. Might be the better call for today amigos!

Being that there were only two surfers out at the sand bars (and actually ended up getting out shortly after I arrived) I figured heading up to the reef might be my last and only option for finding some people who wanted to ride some waves today. Luckily I found Jack out there cruising. Go Jack!!

His buddy wasn’t planning on staying too long either. My chances of getting some surfers today was quickly dwindling.

This nice couple came down to check out the carnage on the beach. I say carnage because whatever blew through last night all ended up here on the beach coming from down the river. Including a couple of sea turtles that didn’t quite make it, unfortunately.

Looks like another beach cleanup might be in the works here.

Tis the circle of life amigos! Looks like we have some weather (which is completely normal for this time of year) coming upon us for the next little while. Also, a pretty decent looking swell for around Oct 6-8th. We’ll keep our fingers crossed the weather cleans up a little bit, at least for that swell. Until then… Keep smiling and know we’re thinking about all of you back in the places who are really trying to recover from things much much worse! Oraciones y bendiciones ~
