Somewhere in Nicaragua

So. The surf wasn’t ideal this morning. Remember, we are in the offseason months. As the pressure in the Atlantic changes and produces storms, we get affected. Bummer but we’ll make the best of September and October!

And there’s still a fun wave to rip. I shot in the morning right after high tide. Forecasts predicted onshore winds by mid/late morning. That mean 2 hours of surf then an hour of photos and I’m off to breakfast happy.

The tide was pretty high… But more peaks and waves than surfers in the water.

This guy is practicing his footwork before tomorrow night! Tomorrow night is dinner and salsa lessons at Casa Ananas. If you want to eat some tasty food and hop on the dance floor, check them out!

As TR would say: schralllppppp fest!! There were some fun sections on the waves to smash.

Rent one of theNSR surfboards. That will give you access to our entire quiver. A fast fish to cutback or long longboard would be fun to trickle down this right.

I would have called the waves chest high but I think this surfer chick might have called them head high. In Nicaragua, we have incredibly consistent surf so there is always a spot working and it never truly goes flat (even if the weather isn’t great).

Alright, starting off on hole #4: Oldenberg’s folly. This is a tricky one so we asked Ben to get us started.

Christian, AKA hand drag McGee, stuck a solid drive straight down the fairway. In today’s Scramble, it was Christian and me (the JV squad) versus Luke and Ben (the All-American D1 golfers). Let’s see how the day unfolds…

Like I said, yes, we have a beautifully maintained 9 hole course. To play 18, play the same 9 over again (but from different tee boxes). You’ll find every type of pars, dog-leg rights/lefts, more sand traps than you’d appreciate, and a couple gorgeous views. Trust me (even though I only shoot in the mid 90’s), it’s a really fun course!

Ok Papi, looks like we’re playing your drive. What are you using? A pitching wedge or probably a 9? Because you have to get us one hundo yards plus up the hill.

Bro, that isn’t what I was talking about… but we’ll play it…

My buddy Christian was more concerned about nailing the GQ shot than sticking this chip in for par. But, he nailed the shot so it’s ok.

Luke got us out of the sand and into the hole! I was switching clubs and putting the camera down but Ole Reliable didn’t wait for us. He wanted to stick it and hit the next hole. Nice shot Luke!

As a side note, these guys are down here working on an aquaponics system with Michael Lindsay at Waves of Love. The idea is to create a sustainable food system that consistently provides food and jobs. It’s an ingenious plan: the fish tank creates waste which fuels to produce and the clean water from the produce filters into the fish tank. Good work guys and we’re excited to see it come to fruition very soon!

And they’re down here to hit the longest drive and enjoy 1 or 2 fine cigars. Yeah Luke!!

Alright a 5 iron up the fairway and we are lying 2. Let’s get a nice chip onto the green and tap in for birdie…
