We had some little drizzles here and there today, but for the most part it wasn’t too hot and the little breeze felt good!

I thought I’d try and mix it up a little and checked out the reef first, but to my surprise, there wasn’t any people out. It looks like everyone was down at the sandbars.

The swell wasn’t as big as forecasted, but there were defiantly some fun ones coming through. Phillip would probably agree.

There were quite a few people out surfing, which seemed a little odd, considering this is theoretically the slowest month of the year.

Speaking of love, we wanted to share MANY MANY THANKS for everyone who’s helped, donated, volunteered, had stuff brought down, withthe on going relief support of the local families here.
This is a shot of the CREA Library that was newly built and got severely damaged in the floods recently.

Heather here! A big thank you to all those who have checked in after last week’s storm and thank you to those who have made donations and dedicated time to the relief efforts on the grounds. It has been amazing to see the communities up and down the coast come together to assist the thousands of locals who experienced devastating loss. While we all work together to provide locals with clean water, food, basic living necessities, hope and love, we also look other at other community needs. One organization in need is CREA. From the beginning, NSR has supported this amazing organization. CREA inspires Nicaraguans to empower themselves and their communities by providing educational resources. Their services include a library, tutoring services, youth development and education outreach programs. On an average day at CREA you see dozens of kids checking out library books, receiving after school tutoring, using computers for school research and most of all smiling, laughing and having fun learning. It has been an enormous blessing to the community. Less than 2 months ago we were celebrating the opening of the brand new library in Limon 2, which was an area that experienced significant flooding from Tropical Storm Nate. Nearly 4 feet of water flooded this brand new building, wiping out all computers and over 3,000 Spanish library books that took a huge amount of effort to make their way to the small, rural community of Limon 2. This is an incredible loss for hundreds of families. We thank CREA for the impact it has had on the community and we admire their huge efforts in providing storm relief. We want to ask everyone to consider contributing to CREA. The greatest need right now is Spanish children’s books. Here is a link to an Amazon wish list page where you can order books to bring down on your next trip OR if you can ship books within the next 7 days, we have a US address you can send these books to and an NSR member will bring these down in a couple weeks. Wish list link:https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/2XPKWYRGI559Q/ref=cm_sw_em_r_d_g__wfPlease email Heather at[email protected]for the shipping address and any other questions you may have regarding storm relief needs. Additionally, funds are being collected by CREA in order to replace all the computers that were lost in the storm. To make a donation directly to CREA, please go to the following link:http://www.creanicaragua.org/donate/

There are many reasons why so many have pulled together to help out down here in Nica-Land from this recent natural disaster, this is one of them. People who come here understand what a truly amazing place this is and giving back is the only way to naturally repay for things like this. This guy got a little cover up, right after that nice light hand drag stall.
