Welcome back to Nica-Land and the Papagayo winds.

John G is always out early, because everyone knows the early bird gets the worm. The only thing with this bird is the winds will have you soaring off to the middle of the Pacific if you get caught, so John plays it smart and takes the low road!

Driving down the line in these winds in not an easy feat.

Pulling in is usually your best bet, if the waves are allowing it. Marlo staying nice and compact to stay in that little drainer.

Getting to your feet is usually the hardest part of taking off when we have these winds this time of year. The rest is cake… haha right?

Even though these winds blow straight offshore, going left is always a much better deal with the winds blowing to your back.

John negotiating his B52 airplane wing circling back around for another approach for landing.

For the few that were out there this morning, they were pretty stoked, since there was only about 3 guys out when I got there.

We have howler monkeys and howling offshores!

Either one is bananas for their own respective reason. I’ll take this banana all day long!

Crisp clean air, water temps are still warm; sun was out… not a bad way to start the day!

Some other mid morning surfistas were starting to make their way down to the playa.

“I need a little more gas”, this guys saying to himself right about here. Check out those textured lines in the wave face.

One guy who knows theses waves inside and out is Carlos Perez. Aside from being a local legend, he’s always smiling.

Now this is the right thing to be doing (IF) you don’t have a surfboard on hand today. Benjamin Franklin would be FROTHING!!!

Carlos sees the first good set come through after coming out of the jungle trail from Santa Marta… I think he likes what he’s seeing too!!

Hey, check it out, it’s John G on another nice right.

I think he may have spotted Carlos coming out for a surf and wanted to show him some his awesome maneuvers. “Check it Carlos, I can do the same thing you do on a short board too”!! I bet Carlos was impressed. Ripping buddy!

December has turned out to be a pretty good month so far; being pleasantly surprised with how fun the waves have been. It’s never too late to dial in that stealth trip. Contact or reach us here:[email protected]to get dialed in with a place if you wanna get away from all that cold winter weather!!

Carlitos paddled right out to slide right into this one here. He doesn’t waste time, nor any ounce of wave.

He’ll consistently ride his waves all the way into the beach, usually finishing with something like this.

or this!

Alright surf fans, that’s my report for today. I hope you enjoyed seeing some nice offshore dreamy warm water waves today wherever you’re at in the world right now. Hopefully if it’s cold, this warmed your day! See ya next time, Saludos ~
