Today the waves were kinda small but they had a great shape, I saw plenty of split peaks like this one.
Goofy or regular, it doesn’t matter, the waves were fun!
Talking about fun… the Tillotson family and friends had a great time during their stay at Casa Flying Pigs in Rancho Santana. They left today back to reality (Hawaii) but I’m pretty sure they will come back. Ryder (9 month old) told me he wants to surf Santana when he gets older. Nice meeting you guys!!
The political unrest and protests that are happening in Nicaragua since April hasn’t reach the coastline, there are still tourists coming, taking advantage of our beautiful beaches with nobody around.
And of course, taking advantage of the uncrowded waves.
Here in the coast there is a lot of people whose livelihood depends on tourism. From the vegetable truck that comes twice a week to sell fruits and vegetables to all the restaurants, the local masseuse that with her magic hands has help many to relax their after-surf sore muscles, the local fishermen that go out every day for those fish tacos and fish fingers that we all love, the local shaper that fix dings and broken boards… the list goes on and on… It’s great to see tourists still supporting the local economy!
In another level… there are plenty of hotels, restaurants, tour operators, service providers like boat tours, transportation services, etc, that give jobs to many people in the area.
The movement of tourist coming and going every week makes a great impact in the economy, it can make a big difference just by coming for a couple of days to catch a few waves.
And the best of all is that we have really good waves for more than 300 days of the year!
Brian Donovan can testify this… by the way, according to facebook today is his birthday, Happy Birthday Brian!
Looks like he had a great afternoon today, hopefully he had a great night too!

I would like to publicly apologize for a mistake I did on last Thursday’s surf report… on this photo (and the whole sequence to be more specific) I said the surfer was Rayito (or though so) but I was totally wrong! It was Donald Stone! The Guru! Check out his website www.zoomnicaragua.net, and give him a ring of you want some surf photography!
Thanks for stopping by, for reading and for following us every day. Now you just need to come visit us! Cheers!
The few people surfing Santana today were having a great time with the little walls, especially the lefts (surprising, right?)
