As you already probably know, the waves were big today, and with this size, the Outer Reef crew got out on a dawn patrol mission.

The waves were not perfect here (we’ve seen better days, check outAugust 16th) but it’s such a great feeling to be surfing only with your friends and nobody else around.

It was kinda Funky out there, the take-off was shifty and the wind was strong most of the day.

Of course, with shifty conditions at Outer Reef, this is what everyone expects it… late vertical drops that most of the times don’t finish well… this wave was not the exception. Way to come out of hiding and charge this one John!

Overall, everyone (especially our fitness guru K X Malone) agreed that the waves were still fun.

Every so often the waves devided into sections that made it dificult to surfers to have a long ride. Manny Resano on a steep and deep one, yew!

But if you picked the right wave you could get the barrel of a life time (and hopefully a wipe out of that magnitude too!)

In general, today’s rides went smooth, long lefts with sketchy inside boils.

And as always, a few big Outer Reef barrels that could give you a heart attack any second.

If you are planning to try this wave, don’t forget to bring your helmet please.

You might not get barreled but there is always a big chance of getting spitted at here.

Outere Reef looked pretty good to be a “funky” day, right? But of course, only a few surfers know what it is to surf a perfect Outer Reef wave.

This is Manu Resano showing even those who have it most dialed gotta straighten out sometimes. Great call Manu! This was a testament to how challenging it was out there today.

Hot Carl standing tall on a small monster.

I went back to Popoyo in the afternoon to have a look on the waves again… Rubber Duckies was working great with the high tide.

This is Maxi Resano, I think she is 8 (or 9) years old, on a triple overhead wave (at least for her).

I got there just in time to find Hot Carl (yes, we was back out again) catching his last wave of the day.

Looks like tomorrow the conditions will continue the same as today, hopefully better of course, so come back tomorrow to check it out. Have a great night, or day!
