One of the very few who made a brave attempt at this late afternoons session.

One would see this and think to themselves, “I’m out there”! but to see a nice looking shoulder like this was definitely far and few in between.

The drops were pretty big and gnarly, especially on the bigger sets. But getting outrun by the fast lefts and rights seemed to be the norm for todays waves.

If you were lucky you could find one gem with a nice shoulder, like this one here.

Or perhaps even a good barrel.

But not too many of them were very makable.

There was however a lot of this…

Which was followed by this.

The rips and current wad pretty swift as well. Of the 5 or 6 guys out, they were moving up the beach so quickly, I had to keep walking down the playa so I could stay north of them so the sun kept facing them. Needless to say, I’m glad I wasn’t out there swimming today.

Mainly because of this. Looks great from the beach.

For those who decided to give tonight a rest, there were plenty of other beach activities to do that was non-surf related. Like these folks who opted for a nice sunset horseback ride.

One of the really smaller ones that allowed for this dude to get in like 3 or 4 really good turns. I bet he was stoked, being that everyone was doing more dodging and weaving than catching anything out there.

This guy looked like he was lining up for possibly a really good barrel.

But as you can see, he’s just as frustrated as I was, since I really wanted some good photos for the report.

So, all in all, as you can see there wasn’t a whole of surfing going down.

Just LOTS and LOTS of this. Wheeewww, and tomorrow it’s supposed to be a little bigger maybe.

One solo stand up paddler enjoying the solitude and big empty waves all to himself at the reef.Ok mi gente – that’s all I have for today. Hope you’re having a great weekend so far. See you back here tomorrow. Cheers ~
