I got up at the crack of dawn to check the waves and the first thing I saw at first light (from my house and not the beach) was super grey, overcast and even sprinkling a littler (which is very very odd for this early in the year) and some slight indication that almost made me think it was onshore.

By the time I had some coffee and did a quick surf check on the moto, to my surprise, the clouds were starting to part way and the winds were slightly offshore. This photo was taken maybe about 30 min after I first checked it and boy can you tell how much the conditions changed in such a short amount of time.

Roger, loving every second of todays morning sessions epic conditions.

My buddy Andy made a very nice donation recently for a really great cause down here and he made the highest bid for the silent auction where Nica Heartbeat was raffling off my free photo session. I’m stoked he and his amigo Mark got the prize as well as Nica Heartbeat made some really nice donations for the clinic here in Hacienda Iguanas. It was a win win for everyone, and the waves today were just the added bonus!

Mark (and Andy) easily scoring the best session of the trip this morning. Yeahhhh guys!!!!

Bart is smart and rides his eco-style surf check bike to check the waves. DuuuuuuDE!!!! Go get your board already! It looks so fun out there!

Perfect empty chest to head high waves reeling through all morning.

Mark showing how nice the lefts were too!

The water is chili! This guys’ showing us just how cold it is.

Carlitos has a lot of energy even at 7:30am.

The offshores were just right for about an hour or so… after that it got a little too offshore, but that window was perfect!

When I asked Andy how cold the water was, his reply was “not that bad”. I guess when you’re from Toronto Canada, this still feels like bathwater.

The surf reminded me of a really fun day at lower trestles back in California with beautiful fall time offshore winds. I don’t know if Carlos has ever even been to Trestles, but by the looks of how he’s surfing here, I bet he would kill it there.

Alberto with the set wave of the day… he caught this thing from what outside and pumped and rode this thing all the way in almost to the sand. Its gotta be like a 50 or 60 photo sequence. Sick one buddy!!!

One of the best ways to start your day…. heck even your week! Glad you stopped by to check out todays surf report. I’ll be back again tomorrow to give you whatever mother nature decides to grace us with again mañana. See ya then ~
