Austin Smith Ford has been frothing on these waves ever since he got here around a week ago. He’ll certainly be one to watch at the contest if it’s held mañana.

The Arena has officially commenced here at PC.

It’s going to be a “no holds barred event”, especially if these waves are this good or maybe even better come Wed or Thursday.

Don’t get me wrong, this place has a local talent pool well worthy of competing with some of the best the surfers the industry can fly down here. However, it’s still pretty cool to see what others bring to the table here.

This wave is very synonymous with the Pig Dog stance.

Surfline’s info is calling tomorrow to ideally be the day, whereas Magic Seaweed’s stats are saying possibly Thursday. All I know is the free surfing going down until the actual day of the contest has been pretty fun to watch so far.

Warm water barrels all day…. this would be the place!

By 9:30am things were already getting pretty warm down at the playa. It was a hot one out there!

That powerful Central American sun can sneak up on you pretty quickly, especially if you were a little lax with your sunscreen application. Always good to find the best possible shade.

Looking back up towards the reef, there were a few bomb sets coming in. Bigger than it looks almost a mile away from where I’m standing here.

This is actual size, from right where I was standing. That’s a pretty big boost!!!

ASF showing everyone early on he’s going to be going XL with his surfing at the Oakley Surf Shot Challenge!!!

That’s it for today. Definitely check back in tomorrow or the next day to see if they’re running the contest. If you’re in town, see ya down at the playa!
RECENT REPORTS

Hey everyone! Josh back behind the lens for the next few days. Welcome to Wednesday evening’s surf report from Colorados. It kind of turned on when I showed up with the camera. The presence of the camera seems to be lucky charm or set magnet haha.
FROM THE ARCHIVES

Hello everyone, welcome to Monday’s Surf Report from playa Santana. The offshore winds took the day off today… you know, after almost a whole year with consistent wind conditions that creates perfect waves all along the Nicaraguan coast, even the offshore wind deserves a break.
