Bienvenidos to the Sunday surf report. Well… all that low pressure system hanging out off our coast finally made landfall today. Looks like we’ll still have some rainy days ahead for a few more and with that the winds will be tore up too. But I think there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
There aren’t that very many days in the year that there ins’t a single surfer out to provide a proper “Surfing” surf report. So it got my attention, wondering how it looked on this day of May 31st the past few years.
Much to my surprise but not overly surprised, May is a pretty normal time to except the rainy weather to arrive here in Nica-Land. Here’s last years waves or more importantly, the water color. This was a pretty day of surfing after much rain in 2019. The color of the water shows just how much run off there was the previous days of heavy rains. Still looks way better than today!

The year before that, 2018 looks like it was nice an sunny and actually pretty fun over at Rancho Santana. This one snapped by Mr. Baldo!
I’ve got some kitesurfing buddies here, but I don’t think the winds were strong enough for them to hit to the airwaves. Maybe mañana or the next day, perhaps?

Stormy days…. if you live by the ocean, you’re guaranteed to have them. Seems like I sure get a lot of much needed backed up computer work done on days like these.
Just like last year, 2016 also had that after rain chocolate milk rain water runoff look too, but those conditions look pretty nice! Looks like a tropical version of some wave in New Jersey or something.
There’s definitely surf. The only question is…. is it surfable? I know someone would find this fun or at least give themselves a good challenge trying to surf it.
Ahhhh ya, this is pretty cool taking a stroll down memory lane with NSR’s massive archival feature on the website here. This was when the ISA’s came and it was held at Playa Sardinas (that’s the OG real latin name) otherwise known to everyone as Popoyo!
Check it once, checked it twice, the third time I got caught with my pants down with my actual camera gear this time and had to jam home quick as it started dumping.
Ok, let’s go for one more! Here’s one from the old days, I think this one was taken by Mr. Codo in 2015. So I think it’s safe to say that out of doing a recap of the past 5 years, It’s pretty common to see a bit of rain on or around the 31st. Now let’s just hope June is going to deliver some really epic swell and waves. Sun and offshore is always the added bonus!

Happy 4th of July! The size of the surf dropped notably today. There were still good sets, but patience was key (again). Hard to believe there were no takers on this one!
Hey amigos! Welcome to Thursday’s surf report from Playa Colorado. I saw some of the biggest sets of the year today. There were epic moments, but it was still a bit slow between the high quality waves.
