Somewhere in Nicaragua
Welcome back to another week of waves and crazy insane offshore winds that would BLOW you or your mind away if you were here right now. They don’t just die down i the evening like normal winds, no, these Papagayo winds getting sucked off of the huge body of water in the middle of the country, also known as “Lake Nicaragua” creates these hefty sting offshore winds (normally) this time of year, but man…. after about 3/4 of a year without them, you quickly remember just how loud and noisy and pretty destructive these wind gusts can be! Hence, check out all the nut-so winds in every photo taken from todays afternoon session.
Props to the guys and gals that were out there braving the strong winds. Cesar here, taking off on a golden hour perfect left!
And running with it for as long as her could, which was a good amount of wave face time!
The rights were even more walled and longer actually, thus some of the peeps out there going for the rights, not only had to paddle harder and had that much more winds in their faces trying to scratch into these wind bombs!
But everyone out was ripping!!!
So there’s supposed to be some good swell coming in, I think around middle of the week. But if this is the normal regular stuff, man I can’t wait to see what around Wed will look like!?!?!
This unknown dude, gunning it, yet looks like he’s just cruising, but he really wasn’t. It was pretty fast and the winds were furious!
A lot of sneaker sets, or better yet we’ll just call em what they really are. . . clean up sets!
Surfing in these strong amount of winds is actually pretty dangerous. One bad take off or wrong kick-out, your face might be meeting your board for a little board meeting that might put you in the clinic to go get yourself some stitches, or worse, just straight up knocking you out or worse possibly giving you a concussion.
But this dude looked like he was well traveled enough to not only be catching mosts of the waves out there, but surfing them like a PRO!!!
Hows was tonights baby “Pipe-like” conditions. And keep in mind, this isn’t Colorados!
And this isn’t your average surfer here either, Kai crushing it! Probably because the entry to the water to this wave is only about 50 feet from his back doorstep.
Looks fun. . . maybe? Colder, each day these winds stay like this. Would you paddle out. I’m pretty sure!!!
Well, Big Rodge told me that it was definitely bigger tonight than earlier (like as in first light this morning). I went down around 9:30AM but there wasn’t a single person out that’s how strong the winds were already. So I guess I’m just gonna have to bite the early bird bullet and wakey wakey super temprano!!!! Let’s see how things look early in the AM!
