Somewhere in Nicaragua

I’ll start today’s report off with some wave porn. The wind was pretty much the perfect speed today which led to “sheet glass” conditions and texture on the wave faces.

Unfortunately a good number of set waves snuck through without riders this morning. Perhaps everyone was tired from the lightning blasts right outside their windows last night haha.

One highly speculative surfer decided to try his luck at the “deep south” mysto left. I am continuously mesmerized by these runaway lefts.

Our speculator was rewarded as he ended up scratching into the wave from the image above. He actually got a pretty sick tube here with a few pumps through it. Surfing is a speculative sport! In many cases it pays to “look first” and ask questions later.

Speaking of looking first and asking questions later… This fella decided to get a bit more scientific. I think he was conducting a science experiment to test the quality of his surfboard’s shape/design. Can my board make a barrel without me on it?

A few frames later and we can see that his board failed to make a tube without his guidance above it. Rather his board decided to show off a near perfect “tombstone” effect haha!

Now this guy here wasn’t out in the surf to monkey about. Here you can see him extending his legs with his toe-side rail engaged to generate some down the line speed in an attempt to outpace this hollow right.

This bogey-boarder got a pretty perfect one as well. Unfortunately he hit the breaks a bit too hard on the takeoff. I think he had the right idea here though.

Here is our serious surfer from the prior good right. He was staying busy out there and nabbed a handful of good waves while most of the surfers were having a hard time anticipating where the inbound sets would arrive.

I think this is Owen from North Carolina taking flight this morning. I saw him do one air about once every 10 minutes with each set that rolled through. Way to stay hungry and disciplined in your aerial practice today!

He even managed to find a mini-inside-right drainer. Boo-yah!

Kevin Cortez doing his thing down the beach. Flying high like usual. I think this month has been a record for the most “air-time” logged by surfers on (and visiting) this stretch of beach.
