Went down there super early with the hopes of finding giant waves with plenty people out to get you all some killer content for todays report; only to find it a little, well quite a bit out of control and only two determined dudes out there braving the super consistent unruly surf. However, I decided to come back (hoping things would clean up) and sure enough this is what I came back to find on the high tide coming back down. Sweet perfection!!!
Josh Springfield (yup) our newest addition to the surf NSR team, out there very much enjoying his day off!!!
We had our very first two solid rains over the last couple days I was off, and I even shot yesterday up at the reef and it was bombing! Today, luckily the sun was out, the weather was gorgeous and the waves were EPIC!!
Barrel-fest would be an understatement for todays surf show out there. Everyone was getting super shacked off of their melons!
May has produced some of the very finest surf for the season (up to this point), and to go out of the month and into June with surf like this is just AWSOME!!
I believe this is my buddy KC. I saw him get this wave and get out and do the walk around to paddle back out.
Yeah, you really can’t tell here (well it wouldn’t be the main thing in your focus) as all you care about is how slotted he’s getting in this big round barrel. . .
. . . but the current out there was pretty gnarly!
As apposed to earlier, the waves were BIG, but way too much water, so it was clamping down, basically shutting down any potentially good barrels out there.
But once that tide hit just that right amount of water over the sand bars, it was ON!
KC, pulling a KC Jones!! Yeah buddy, killing it out there today!!!!
Definitely double over head, almost 3 x overhead on some of the really big sets!
Here’s another nice little mini sequence of an unknown kid that was also killing it out there.
It’s too bad, because I was down on the complete opposite side earlier when I was checking it. I wish I had shot from the rocks looking into these gaping barrels, but it was a pretty good spot to get all the lefts too!
So it was a coin toss, but as you can see, the makability factor out there today was super high!
More sweet perfection from todays midday session.
Heavy long sweeping empty right. . . any takers???? Maybe for tomorrow???
These guys certainly had their eyes on it! Let’s see what tomorrow shall bring to kick off the week and give this seasons month of May a huge applause for all of the amazing waves the ocean brought to us! It’s Thursday and we’re enjoying a bit more size in the surf today, the rain has been pouring down the last few nights and the wind has been cross-shore onshore lately. That being said there are windows of clean conditions to be found throughout the day. They say the early bird gets the worm but..
