I missed the morning surf window today, so I spent most of the day chasing down the handful of surfers who did shoot their shot this afternoon. Although the surf action was scarce today, the weather was cool on the beach with the onshore breeze and rain showers, which made for great beach strolling conditions.

I spotted a couple of guys up at Panga Drops first, so I decided to quickly dart up there in hopes of getting a couple of their waves.

Unfortunately I caught the two fellas on their way out of the water, so I only managed to grab this guy’s last wave. He didn’t get across the face here, but did well to make the late, under the lip, takeoff.

Victory at sea?! The large, yet short-interval swell made for some epic splash action up at Los Perros. Nature is something else here! The elements are much more intense than back in the moderate climate of the US.

BOOOM! Nobody, aside from masochists, would want to get caught between a big wave and a rock point.

I went for a run on the beach between photo sessions, in the hopes that some keen surfers would hit Colorados closer to sunset for a surf. Luckily a handful of surfers decided to get wet despite the onshore breeze. Here’s Dave Smith working on his rail game in lumpy conditions.

Guido was also out this evening executing his signature extended floaters. I like his stylish arm placement here.

Frothy wave faces this evening with the hurricane-like conditions. I bet the other half of the visiting surfers were sipping on some frothy Toñas at the beach club for happy hour!

From left to right: Casey, Ryan, Rodrigo, and Osa showing some brotherly stoke haha! Looks like the onshore wind isn’t messing with their positive vibes.

This guy’s prepping his form for the return of the off-shores. Gotta be ready to make the left tube when it does come!

Speaking of a tube… This same guy managed to find the only barrel, even though it closed out, that I saw all day. Ask and ye shall receive?

Although the surf was marginal, some of the folks visiting here probably thought, “Why not?” when considering whether or not to go for the sunset session.

A mini-slash from our barrel hunter to close out today’s surf action.

Yes Guido, you are the man! Props to all of the surfers who braved the lumpy, dumpy conditions today for the sake of getting some rides in. Tomorrow’s forecast is looking even a bit more biblical than today, so we’ll see if our surfers can handle the chop! Thanks for checking in and have a good one.

FROM THE ARCHIVES

Welcome to the otherwise muy tarde surf report. Lo siento (sorry), it’s been much like a dog chasing its own tail today, waiting to catch that possible good or decent window of surf. But the weather reports came through on their end and it’s officially back to some onshore winds for a few days I..
