Oooooo, another beautiful emerald green barrel from sunset this evening. The lightning was gnarly during the prior storm so only a handful of surfers paddled out around 5:20pm for a final hour of power today. Most folks got chased out by some violent rain and bolts.
I’ll quickly loop back in time to when I first rocked up to shoot in the afternoon. The wind was onshore, but there were plenty of rippers out like this guy. Grade A bottom turn here dude!
His perfect bottom turn gave him the opportunity to get vertical on this section. This was one of the better turns I saw all evening.
Another shredder getting hard on rail at the higher tide. Even though he got super low and really dug his toe-side rail in, he still rode out of this heavy cutback.
It’s a bird. It’s a plane. Nope, just another talented surfer boosting up above the lip. When the wind’s onshore it’s best to work with what you’ve got and project off the rampy sections.
A nice lip crack / slap from this guy just as the storm clouds darkened overhead. I had to flee for shelter, but when I came back…
I was greeted with a nice rainbow. Woohoo!
A large majority of the surfers got their hours in during the AM window today, leaving plentiful pickings for those who did get back out for the sunset window.
Brett doing some cleanup on this wave face, i.e. pushing the foam and froth out the back 🙂
To close out today’s surf action, I’ve got Sophie pulling off some high quality turns. This high line top-turn soul-arch combo is next level! I don’t think I’m even flexible enough to get into that posture, let alone ride out of it haha.
Woosssshhhhh! Don’t spray the camera man Sophie! She was on her A-game this evening.
Another beautiful day with good to near epic surf at moments during the day. Some barrels in the morning and good turns in the afternoon + evening. Tomorrow’s forecast is looking pretty darn good as well, so be sure to stop back by and scope out the action.
