Alright, now to “spot-X”! I expected the waves to be pretty bad when I went to shoot, but was shocked to see there were some nuggets coming in here.
Koji flashing one of his fresh new Byrne sticks from Australia with this smooth top-turn.
Yuji got a good little barrel here, but I’m a bit perplexed by his form here? From my observation it looks like he was going for a switch pig-dog? Maybe he’s been watching some Chris Ward or Andy Irons clips, the two best back-side barrel riders of all time.
I think John was feeling a bit “over-gunned” with the Ricky Carroll out there, but that didn’t stop him from getting vertical on this end-section.
Yuji must’ve skipped breakfast this morning, as he must’ve been pretty light to have popped this high on this air XD
Kai DeLorenzo was the heat winner today. Check out how low he’s getting here without compromising his style. He made this tube too.
John was loving the frontside carves today at an alternate peak.
Kai slamming a section shut.
I didn’t think I’d see makable barrels for a considerable period of time, but here’s the barrel of the day from spot-X. Kai fully coiled up in this frame ready to extend and drive through the tube.
Woah, how round was this one!
And he made it. Man, the camera sure struggles anytime there’s glare from the sun :’( Only a poor craftsman blames his tool haha
There weren’t many people on the beach near Spot-X, but those few who were quickly waxed up and jumped out there after seeing the mini-tube fest. Tomorrow the surf could be alright with some tide in the morning or sunset, but be forewarned that the forecast looks pretty small and wind looks like it will be blasting hard offshore. I’ll still be bringing you guys some action, so see you tomorrow.
RECENT REPORTS
Howdy folks! Welcome to Thursday’s surf report from Panga Drops. The wind was supposed to be ripping hard today, but it was actually very light this morning. The only downside was that the tide was low at that time.
Hey everyone! Welcome to Wednesday’s surf report from Pangas, specifically French Fries right. The wind was ripping pretty hard around mid-day, but it mellowed out slightly in the evening and the direction improved some. It was golden hour!
Hey amigos! Welcome to Tuesday’s surf report from Panga Drops. This lady either ended up a bit later than anticipated or misunderstood what it means to get barreled haha! I’ve got to give her credit for looking at this wave though. You don’t know if you don’t go (or at least look at going).
FROM THE ARCHIVES
Welcome to another week and surf report from your favorite surf zone in Latin America! The waves were gorgeous with those deep blue hues, thanks to those stiff offshore winds and the swell was in the super fun chest to head high range. Come on in and check it out!
