I pulled up expecting to see ok surfing, but after I saw who was out, I knew this session was going be pretty epic.
One of the stand outs and one of my personal favs, Mr. Kevin Cortez.
This is exactly why!
The shred-a-thon that was going on had me frolicking all over, looking left and right and every which way because there was always someone on a wave killing it.
It was so rippable and fun out there and whether you like lefts or rights, there was plenty of waves to go around for everyone.
Sitting out the back if you can nab the outer bigger sets which gives you a nice long wall with plenty of room for carving all over any wave you drop into.
The water was a little more chili than yesterday and it’s been fluctuating working its way down very slowly. Still not quite full spring suit temps, but definitely a rashy if you’re acclimated to these waters.
Always good to see my friend Corey back down and ripping!
The coolest thing about when the boys get together to surf is the way they push each other to go bigger, harder and faster. Kevin here where the skys the limit, or is it?
Maycol following closely to his order surfing brothers footsteps.
I like this time of year, not only because we have a break that acts like a backup wave, which is pretty good too; but it’s cool to see the traveling pros come and rip this wave to pieces as opposed to pulling into huge gaping barrels during the peak season.
Because as we all know… a great surfer, is a well rounded surfer.
Big waves, OR small. BOOOOOOMMMMM!!!! Sick one Corey!
Just before the sun hit that horizon line, I caught my good old pal Jairo Ramos about to swim back out for some last minuet dusk water shots. (*ed note – there might be some example shots possibly on mañanas surf report – so be sure to check it!).
5:35PM usually equals slow shutter time. Time to put things on cruise control.
Or freeze what’s most important if everything else seems just too fast!
Speed blurs are a work all in themselves, since it’s a little more tricky than shooting, say at a much faster shutter speed.
Combine that with some surfers that surf exceptionally fast and it’s a game of hit or miss.
Luck or skill? Corey definitely has the skills! He’s just lucky to be surfing fun warm waves in Nicaragua.
Big Papa and my amigo vecino, Cesar flying around one of his many sections of one of his many waves that he surfs every single day.
One last punt for good measure…
Kevin’s always hyped to surf… and surf very well!
As I walk the lonely beach back to my moto, I watch as the surfers still rip into the golden sunset.
RECENT REPORTS
Howdy everyone! Welcome to Thursday’s surf report from Panga Drops. The waves surprised to the upside today. It was slightly larger than I was expecting, and there were hour plus long windows where the wind dropped out.
FROM THE ARCHIVES
Hey there and Happy Tuesday. We have some waves. Compared to yesterday there must have been a little itty bit of a bump in swell. Not a whole bunch, but we’ll take it!
