Nicaragua Surf Report for Tuesday, January 14, 2020

Brian Scott

Heeeeeeyloooowwwww SURF FANS!!! Well…. it’s officially safe to say that we have our first decent swell of the 2020 season…. AND the offshore winds were ABSOLUTELY NUTS today!

Brian Scott

Got down to the beach early today for two good reasons (at least in my mind) was to try and get down there before the winds went nuclear and the tide was on the way down from it’s high.

Brian Scott

Making my first surf check at the reef, I was greeted with this! Holy Hell, it was furious out there and not a single surfer out. But there was certainly swell in the water!

Brian Scott

My mission, as always is to find surfers out. So I decided to head over to the beachie. One might focus on the foreground of this photo and think, ya well, it’s a purdy wave and all, but it looks like a closeout. You’d be correct, however, I want you to focus as far as you can on that horizon. That’s not onshore Baby!!!! That’s how hard this place cranks when our Offshores are literally firing on all pistons.

Brian Scott

Yup, wind gusts can be felt up to 50 mph +, but then there’s the occasional calmness in-between those wind tunnels and there’s a perfect A-frame a-far.

Brian Scott

Oh how I missed you, you sexy beast!

Brian Scott

Being that there weren’t any surfers out the entire time I checked it in the AM, I had to come back on the tide upswing in the afternoon. PC looking to be well and ready for 2020 and we’re not even on the midway mark of Jan (by one day, but who cares!!!) haha

Brian Scott

Mother nature giveth and that bad Bi!ch taketh!! Damn, one one of the best shade trees on this entire beach and those ferocious winds blew that house down today, unfortunately. Who knows, maybe then can bring AAA-Ox and pull that thing back up and anchor it some way to help save it????

Brian Scott

Again, always looking for the surfers, especially when there’s beautiful new swell in the water, I ended up heading back to my starting point early this AM.

Brian Scott

I could definitely see on the bigger sets how much swell had grown throughout the day.

Brian Scott

Mr. Hayden playing around on a smaller one.

Brian Scott

This was maybe one one of the medium sized sets when I was there. Definitely well overhead, but go ahead and take a look back at the opening banger pic. That set was legit and WAY bigger than it looks.

Brian Scott

Onshore or 100 mph offshore???? Easy answer, just get used to taking off blindly.

Brian Scott

Sailing the seas of love? Right on by Nicaragua. I doubt all 5000 passengers didn’t even notice they were passing one of the best countries in the world. C YA ~
