Just watching waves going off like this for a good 30-45 min. I would have loved to have shot longer, but everyone got out. Although I could have stayed and shot perfect tapering empty barrels probably for hours.
The reef is actually where I started and it was a wind machine on the roids!!!
I could only check with my actual eyes (didn’t have my long lens on me), but it looked like there were a hand full of people down at PC. Turned out there were only two dudes out…. all the other “things” in the water were pelicans.
Kent here from Amsterdam made the walk (barefooted too btw – not highly recommended) all the way over from Gigante over and around the rocks. Here is Kent all smiles, surfing in what he referred to as some of the funnest waves and well worth the hike over!
This is what this place is going to look like in a couple months, but imagine head high to double overhead or even bigger!!!! Or who knows, maybe sooner? We’ve already had an amazing start to the season with some pretty good swell/waves.
If you’ve surfed here, then you know how difficult it actually is to paddle into the waves here with all those super strong offshore winds.
If you’re able to get into a wave (pretty much blind) and make it to your feet, the rest isn’t so bad, other than surfing into the offshores, which would be more on the rights.
This guy literally caught 2 waves and came in. The water’s starting to get a little more chilly too, so if you’re planning a trip down, don’t forget to bring a little extra neoprene, so you can last longer out there during your surf sessions.
Aaron (Kents travel amigo from New York) trying to catch one in as well.
Ahhhhh – even though I’m sure it’s freezing both in New York and Amsterdam, I bet you Kent’s feeling right about here every penny was well spent on this surf trip, just alone for the tropical warm sun as he soaks it all in before they have to head back in a few short days.
Now for that dreaded walk back over the rocks (keeping in mind – this photo doesn’t really give it justice) but just to carry a board without it flying away from you when those sudden wind gusts hit you unexpectedly. I felt it was only the right thing to do and go over and tell them about a much easier (on the feet and the winds) a little shortcut without having to walk those mega sharp and jagged rocks. Hope the little insider tip helped amigos! Maybe I’ll see you guys back here again mañana!?!!?Remember, even if you didn’t make the highlights you can always look at the link here for all theDaily Surf Shotsfrom each day, there might be a good chance you’re in there!AND don’t forget to follow us and always check out our current happenings on our daily Instagram stories hereNSRor my photography hereNica Surf Shots
RECENT REPORTS
Hey everyone! Welcome to Wednesday’s surf report from Pangas, specifically French Fries right. The wind was ripping pretty hard around mid-day, but it mellowed out slightly in the evening and the direction improved some. It was golden hour!
Hey amigos! Welcome to Tuesday’s surf report from Panga Drops. This lady either ended up a bit later than anticipated or misunderstood what it means to get barreled haha! I’ve got to give her credit for looking at this wave though. You don’t know if you don’t go (or at least look at going).
FROM THE ARCHIVES
Hey folks it’s the Saturday surf report and it was super fun! There was maybe 20 people spread out over a couple of peaks and plenty of stoked faces.
