Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, January 22, 2021

Brian Scott

Hola gente! Happy Friday and welcome to the start of what looks to be a pretty good weekend of waves, if the forecast is on as predicted. Here’s a little peek at how it looked today! Enjoy ~

Brian Scott

Naturally I went to check the reef first. I actually checked it a little earlier and saw a few people out, so I jammed back and grabbed my gear and figured I’d try and get something while tide was just right and oh, it looked like it was sorta firing with only a couple dudes out!

Brian Scott

Sets were well over head, as you can see.

Brian Scott

The standard bit round house wrap arounds as you come flying from around the corner of the second throwing peak on the right.

Brian Scott

And Mateo pulling in for the money shot on the inside bow. A lot of people under appreciate or think of this wave as just an “ok” wave, but it's a super fun wave and it’s also one of the only place to surf (normally around this time of year).

Brian Scott

We just so happen to have some really nice swell that arrived and here’s Jason on an outside bomber!

Brian Scott

This is that second sorta unpredictable peak that can make or break you being able to surf the rest of the 100+ yard wave which goes and goes.

Brian Scott

As you can see Jason knows this wave like the back of his hand, utilizing every single corner and wave face of this super long one!

Brian Scott

Pulled back version of how nice it was looking. Obviously the rights were the call out there today. Sick looking once that sun fully popped out, eh???

Brian Scott

I kept glancing down at the beachie and saw a few heads and figured I’ve give a little gander and see what was happening down that way. This is what I saw right when I walked up to the beach club.

Brian Scott

Alvaro and only about 3 others were out there, so you can say the pickin’s were abundant for either spot today.

Brian Scott

I didn’t really even check the swell angle or anything to be honest, I just went down hoping to catch some people surfing; but by the looks of this, I’d say the angle had a tad bit of “Wallorados” in it! Hahaha

Brian Scott

Grant on a nice little mini Nug! Heck man…. it’s Jan 22nd it’s been raining and this is Playa Colorados. definitely not the norm for this time of year.

Brian Scott

PD’s was obviously much bigger in size, but if I’m able to give you a little bit of both in the same day…. I’m all about showing you guys how the waves looked the whole stretch of the beach. Kind of like a two for one for the report!

Brian Scott

PC’s today was perfect for getting out there and just having fun… whereas while I was down at PD’s some of the sets definitely looked like you were going to have to put in some serious work and when I say that, I’m referring to the paddling back out (even though each wave was pretty perfect and really long) those guys at Pangas will certainly have some pretty good noodle arms tonight!

Brian Scott

Liam was even out there too with his mom. How many, or I should say…. how cool is it that you can say you surf with your mom. Just about every grom surfer usually surfs with their Dad’s - which is the norm pretty much. But to surf with your mom….. now that’s pretty special!~

Brian Scott

Here’s his mom, Maria. How well does your mom surf??? Yeah chica…. doing well out there today!

Brian Scott

OOooooooh! man if this guy was only looking the other direction, he’s be seeing what you and I are seeing and it’s a shame, at least for him.

Brian Scott

Well, with both surf breaks covered in one day, here along our nice little stretch of beach along Hacienda Iguana’s prime location. I’m glad to have given you all a little cyber lovin’ for your Friday today. I’ll see ya’ll again tomorrow. Actually I’ll be seeing you guys until Tuesday. Mr. Chis went on a little stint back home so I’ll be covering him for about a month which means you guys are stuck with my ridiculous surf reports 6 days out fo the week for about a month. I hope you can handle me for that long!?!?!?!! jejeje Chao 4 now ~
