Nicaragua Surf Report for Tuesday, January 23, 2024

Josh S

Hey everyone! Tuesday surprised slightly to the upside today at Panga Drops. It wasn’t pumping out there, but the wave faces were cleaner than expected even though the wind was honking.

Although the majority of the waves were hitting the left of the main peak today, there were still a couple of quality waves at French Fries (the right shown here).

There was an unknown goofy-foot surfer out there ripping and tearing up the waves despite the wind. The sun has been very intense at mid-day lately, so he’s making a good decision with his long-sleeve hoodie rash-guard.

BAM! That lip didn’t stand a chance.

John paddled out again today to grab a few quick waves. He was pleasantly surprised with the conditions today too, as he was expecting the wind to have generated a lot of cross-face chop.

Relaxed and smooth style is one of John’s specialties.

To drive big boards through turns you’ve really gotta put your arms and torso to work via rotation.

This photo here captures wind-chop which was closer to what I was expecting to see today.

Ayyy, an elusive tube funneling through at the main peak.

Drop the wallet!

Pangas main peak is probably one of the better waves I’ve surfed for practicing roundhouse cutbacks. Plenty of time and space to work with.

John managed to squeeze into one of the few barrels during this morning’s window. Someone’s gotta do it!

Alrighty, that’s the best of this morning's / mid-day’s action from Panga Drops. The wind is supposed to drop some tomorrow, so hopefully the waves improve again. Thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
