Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, January 26, 2024

Josh S

Happy Friday everyone! Today’s surf action is from Panga Drops main peak. There was still some swell hanging around from yesterday, but it is definitely windier than forecasted now.

Josh S

“Woah, woah, woah!” - unknown surfer. It’s a challenge to stay planted on your board and not blow away with the wind haha.

Josh S

Johnny fulfilling his usual role of being the “hero” of the surf report. Notice how he literally lifts his front toes off the deck to help get his heel-side rail engaged on the longer board.

Josh S

I think John may have taken some notes from the highly skilled short-boarders out over the past couple of days. He’s adopted their stylish and functional move of touching the wave-face with his lead hand during his roundhouse cutback and pivoting off that “point”.

Josh S

Windy conditions and a big board requires some “man-handling” of the turn rotation with one’s arms.

Josh S

Scwappah! I wasn’t expecting John to whip out a nice snap on this section.

Josh S

Mayday, mayday! We got a man down! The wind was challenging out there today, as evidenced by Rob getting held up during this right-takeoff going directly against the wind blowing up at him.

Josh S

John doing a good job of flashing and advertising his slick Ricky Carroll fun shape board.

Josh S

John didn’t let the wind-lumps on the face of this left stop him from blasting all the way through his cutback.

Josh S

That’s all of today’s surf action. How was this rare and elusive side-peak right? Pretty hollow eh? Well the waves weren’t as good as I was hoping for today, but it was still surfable. I don’t know if I’ll surf today given the stronger than forecasted wind, but we’ll see. Tomorrow is forecasted to be smaller, but allegedly with less wind (I’ve got my fingers crossed). Thanks for checking in and have a good one.
