There’s nothing better than breaking away from the mundane, when it comes to the same old surf spots every day. So a good buddy of mine and I decided to take a little road trip. Here’s what the late afternoon paddle out looked like.
There weren’t too many people around these neck of the woods. But then again, like the old say goes… why leave waves that are firing or good, when you can surf them them when they’re right in front of you.
Well, I’ll tell you why. Because surfing has always been about exploration. And in this case, we wanted to just jump out of our comfort zone for a minute.
Believe me when I say, please don’t be fooled by these photos. I am a wizard with Photoshop, and the sets were easily about 30 min to an hour at least in-between the good waves that were even ridable.
Papa on maybe his 10th turn on this wave lone. Taking it all the way in to the sushi zone!
This wave (obviously) breaks like a point break, so to even capture my buddy taking off from the furthest point behind the rocks, it always keeps me on my toes, because I’m not sure when he’ll be coming around the mountain.
That shish-kabob inside section to navigate is always hairball (at best), but if you make it on one of the better, more detrimental days here… you’re always guaranteed possibly one of the best barrels of your life.
Once that last light starts to fade, Cesar pulls the magic cat out of the bag by fading and racing like a madman to make any and all sections; as this wave can easily give you a couple hundred yards of surfing bliss!
You just gotta know the reef and all of it’s nooks and crannies well!
If you got to surf today…. how was your session??? I’m just curious. I’m always curious!
Making the final lap for a quick and stealthy get-a-way today! Gracias NMRK for the fun mini adventure!
What a glorious day it’s been, for this fine Saturday. I hope you all had a great prime weekend day, however you spent yours’. I will see you all back here again tomorrow. Dale pues ~
