Brett here rolling the dice on the late morning into early afternoon pre-peak high tide goodness at the beachie. He wasn’t kidding either when he said he ran back to his ocean front condo to grab his full suit, as his prediction for the water temp has got to be around 67-68 degrees with all these days of howling offshore winds.
Small, but contestable and not looking too shabby eh?!?!
Pete isn’t gonna complain, because he’s here for a while too, so I am stoked for him to see this place when it’s really on fire AND hopefully the water temps come back to their tropical normal warmness!
Been a funky 2022 for sure…. Rain in Jan and Feb. PC’s working in the same both months where it’s usually flat as a lake. Who knows what else we’ll see this season???? Jajajaja
With only 3 people out… warm or cold(er) water if it means getting that many more waves to yourself…
Which means that any day to surf waves like this is ALWAYS a score!!!
Pretty much everyone’s thoughts (all wrapped up in Brett’s classic face here), despite the almost completely empty lineup. His thoughts exactly are, I think we’ll wait for the evening session to see if these winds calm down a bit.
One quick peek up towards the point. Yeah… I’m thinking it’s gonna be a double your pleasure kind of day too!
After waiting for a couple hours, I decided to run down and check out the reef. The lighting and mood certainly changed, but it’s always a good sign when you see some people heading out for a surf!
And after seeing some sets roll through like this, I knew I had to get a little bit of the late afternoon session in on todays report as well.
Big Papa, Cesar, first and only one out when I arrived. chasing down the dream and damn man, I have no idea how he only trunks it year after year here during the cold summer months.
This unknown hombre made the paddle out pretty quickly, being that the outside zone isn’t exactly a simple paddle out like the beachie.
Cesar in his element and loving this wave, especially when there’s only 3 people out.
If you love ripping and carving long tapering walls of water, this wave is perfect for you!
And the reward for opting for the late afternoon session….. THIS!!!!
And if you stayed long enough to see the sun disappear on the opposite side of the horizon, you would have seen this coming up over the hills to the east. And with said my friends it has been one long day of looking at waves, beautiful sunsets and a really full bright and huge moon creeping into the early night. With that I bid you a good evening and what do you say, let’s try it all over again for tomorrow? RECENT REPORTS
Hey everyone! Welcome to Sunday evening’s surf report from French Fries. The surf was smaller today, but it was cleaner and hitting the sandbar better. So better waves than yesterday even though it was smaller.
