Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, February 27, 2016

Hello everybody and happy weekend! Welcome to the surf report with NSR and Parker. We hope your weekend is filled with as many waves as we are receiving. If not, check out what we enjoyed!

Hmmm do we go now or wait until later? The tide will drop but the wind will pick up. These are a couple of the tough decisions we face in southern Nicaragua...

Mateo locked into a backside tube. Where there is a tube, you will find him and the rest of his crew!

Yeah primo! Buena ola! The tube factory was maxing out production so keep scrolling down.

Kevin Cortez said, "Mateo is my surf coach but I'm not letting him get the sickest backsider!" Which angle is cooler? The GoPro mouth mount or land shot???

Dlite and Kevin came to their senses and prepared to paddle out. It isn't an epic day; however, who can pass up these conditions in the offseason?

Kevin drew the first wave and killed it in the style department. Also, happy birthday bro!! We're stoked you enjoyed birthday barrels to celebrate 40 years.

Before he paddled out, Dlite said he would give Kevin the set wave for his birthday. Good friends settle for the in betweeners so their buddies can take the nuggets!

For those who haven't heard, the Foundation for International Medical Relief for Children (FIRMC) is having two fundraisers next week! The first is at Rancho Santana and the second is at Mag Rock. If you enjoy eating delicious food, laughing your face off, and supporting worthy causes, we recommend attending. FIRMC does a ton of great work in the area so make sure you clear your calendar!

Because George and I are both from the East Coast, we talked about the water temperatures here and there. If you are coming down in the next month, pack your wetsuit top or a spring suit! If you forget it, we have brand new Vissla gear in our shop.

When Jeff isn't keeping an eye on Tony and Turbo, he slips out of the office to pick off some gems. Unfortunately, those two are a handful...

Yeah Jeff!! His nice beard gives him special powers for riding backside barrels.

Kevin is an avid fist pumper. On our waves, you may need to use two hands to stall into the pocket. However, if your name is Kevin Malone, you can get the job done with one.

Others, like Mateo, do the traditional stall. Soon, his little boy will be pulling into bombs like his dad!

In other news, the rights were going off!!!! Check out this beauty!

While we were getting barreled, CJ and Chanelle McNicol were hosting a spray and nueter clinic for the stray dogs. Thank you two for your dedicated doggy love, epic beard (for CJ only), and sharing your good vibes!

This just in... Kevin still packing birthday barrels. Because I took a bunch of photos of you Kevin, does that mean I get free training next week?!?!

Thanks to the swell direction, an abundance of lefts came through. Jeff, a goofy footer, seized the opportunity.

Seizing the opportunity indeed!! Yeww!!

After the session, you are cooking pizzas on the new fogon, right Jeff??? Cheese is fine with me!

As the morning progressed, the offshores kicked up. You could only find protection inside the barrel, if you stuck the blind drop.

Unknown surfer pulled out of a close one. After the tube, there was plenty of face waiting for you.

As the winds turned on, the crowds arrived. Some were welcomed though.

One last barrel shot for Dlite. He made the trip here for two mornings on his moto in the wind. That's dedication for a tube!!! He received his reward in full.

Ok damas and caballeros, there are still plenty of waves to be caught. Have a relaxing weekend and thank you all for checking out the report! Adios amigos!
