Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, March 03, 2012

Before we get to our surf report for the day we are posting the following announcement from San Juan del Sur local, aerial expert and staple NSR presence Augusto "La Gaviota" Chamorro.

My name is Jose Augusto Chamorro Lopez, I am 26 years old and I live in the beautiful village of San Juan del Sur, NIcaragua. I have been surfing for 9 years. In this time I have represented Nicaragua in international competitions all over Central America and I have been runner up in the National standings for 3 consecutive years. Surfing is an important part of my life - it is my pass time, my discipline, and my sport. I love the ocean and beach, it is one of the many riches my beautiful country offers. I am focused on raising my level of surfing, competing against the best in the region, and continuing to represent my country. Right now, I am making the push to get to the next ALAS event in Santa Teresa Costa Rica. Getting to and competing in these events are costly. I am respectfully asking for financial support in my effort to keep my dream alive. Any assistance you feel you can offer would be appreciated.

NSR will be providing Augusto with some financial assistance for this trip as is Barrio Cafe. But we also wanted to provide our audience with the chance to help Augusto out as well. If you are interested in participating you can email us at [email protected].

The surf surprised us today.  It picked up a little bit and there were a bunch of fun sets rolling in all over the place.  Chest to shoulder high waves, quite strong offshore winds and chilly water, that was the combination we had.  Check out the lineup!!!

It was big enough to ride on shortboards and it wasn’t that big, giving us a chance to take a big board out. Check out this unknown rider catching a nice left hander.

The waves were not as consistent as we would like it to be.  Dexter Akamai was teaching some lessons in the inside.

Marcus was having a blast on his super fish. Check him out with a cool little turn on this right.

Unknown international beginner going big with a late take off on this peeler.  Don’t give up pal!!!

There were many killer peaks coming in, but nobody was taking advantage of them.  Paddle harder if you want to catch it man!

We were not expecting this little push today but we are not complaining.  More waves on tab for tomorrow, so please check back with us!
