Nicaragua Surf Report for Sunday, March 03, 2024

Josh S

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great Sunday! Today’s surf report comes primarily from main peak Pangas, but some cameos from Spot X too.

Josh S

If you couldn’t tell from the opening frame, you should realize by now that the waves were relatively good today. I got a few pulses of adrenaline during my session later today, so that means it’s close to surf season tier quality.

John Daiger setting up for a big bottom turn on a right set wave.

An unknown shredder ditching his fins over the coping of this glassy runner.

Rob flowing through a nice roundhouse on a mid-sized left. The lefts were definitely softer today.

Derek Thomas is the style wizard of Iguana. He is like Dario, in that he has his own unique style and flare while surfing. Their styles are very different, but the common ground they share is their uniqueness.

Josh S

Oi! The window of opportunity elapsed a little earlier than Derek was expecting here. This section is a hard one to successfully get barreled on though. Usually the section that’s even further inside is the hollowest one.

Josh S

The wind direction and speed were probably the best I’ve seen in about a month now. The morning window didn’t disappoint.

Josh S

Surprisingly no one managed to snag any barrels while I was shooting. There were more than a few out there to be had.

Josh S

The rights were definitely better today, but this guy’s left lined up very nicely. A tight tube section on the drop and a long enough wall to work some carves in.

Josh S

I was satisfied with my one hour session after shooting. It’s very rewarding to finally get some decent waves. Now I’m getting even more excited for surf season after a taste of the nectar.

Josh S

Well amigos that’s all I’ve got for today. Spot X shown here reeling at full capacity. That is where I surfed after shooting and I managed to squeak through a couple of keepers. I still gotta sharpen up before the real good stuff starts at Colorados. In reality we’ve probably got another two months before Colorados returns to true form though. Tomorrow should be really good (relatively) again, so be sure to check back in!
