Somewhere in Nicaragua

Getting down the to the beach is always a great surprise because for one, I don’t live there (in view of the waves) and two, if it’s good and there are people out surfing (which now-a-days is a hit or miss) or not, this will determine on whether I can shoot right then and there or maybe will have to come back to check it later.

Luckily today, I got both! As for Alberto (in the previous photo as well) he scored from 7am until I got down there and while I shot for an hour or 2.

Which also means, he got a lot of waves like this!

Derek paddled out just about when I first got down there. This was his first wave (I believe) and not a bad warm up wave, don’t ya think?

As normal protocol (for me at least), I like to check both breaks to determine which is more photo worthy for the days surf report. Always keeping you fine people in mind for your daily dos of surf porn! Hows this centerfold???

However, the reef took the prize and earned my attention because it looked like this… and there were surfers out here. Not many, but enough to make you happy today!

BTW the winds today were ferocious!! Not to mention the paddle back out to the lineup.

But once you found that open section…. the canvas was yours for the taking.

Windy….little bit hahahaha!

Not too too big today, but there were certainly some bombs out the back. This guy putting it on cruise control on this cruisy looking nice left.

I didn’t even get to realize this the entire time I was shooting…. but this here is Chris, our new concierge/surf reporter.

I didn’t know he styled on a long board, so when he got out, he waved over to me and I realized it was him. Yeah buddy, sick style and super epic session for your first waves on the report, eh hermano!?!?!

Chris isn’t only stylish with his feet, but he’s pretty fancy with his hands too. How’s your take off on waves??? I know this can’t be easy.

Walking the nose, handstand take off’s, doing the “Charleston”…. THIS is what surfing is all about right here friends. Having a GREAT time!!!!

Then before you know it, you make your way almost all the way in to the sand and you realize you better get your booty back out there because here comes another epic set!

I only counted the people out today on one hand. I’d save my other hand for a “high-five” for you, but maybe in a little bit.

You can rest assured you’re all not alone. There will be a lot… I mean A LOT of empty wave, mind surfing going on out there.

I just hope I can delver the goods and you all like it!

The only mind surfing Derek’s got going on at this very particular moment is how bowled out the bottom part of that wave is and how he intends to get there safely.

Of course, when you’re a good surfer, you make most of your drops look easy. And you ALWAYS ALWAYS pull in!!!! ALWAYS!!!!

A good lip bash at the end for good measure never hurts either.

Its always hard to get out or leave good waves when it’s firing like it was this morning… but you need to rehighdrate, refuel and get ready for more if you wanna have another fun session. Just ask Mr. Chris!

Not a soul in sight! Parting ways…. but only for a little while. See ya out there for the PM session perhaps???
