It was probably a little bit better earlier but I was doing some errands in Rivas all day and made it to the beach right at high tide and the waves were breaking very close to the sand.
With this proximity to the sand and shallow waters, having a boogieboard could be the way to go, it reduces your chances of any accident (getting hurt or breaking your surfboard) considerably.
A good technique to become a good surfer is using your hands to pivot your body when turning… left hand sticking deep at the beginning of the turn.
Left hand still there guiding the body through the turn.
The hand is released to be able to start turning the board the other way…
… and hit the lip with full control and speed to finish the maneuver with style.
Nicely done!
A good idea for today’s waves (besides a boogieboard) is to go out with a longboard… this is Josh from NicaVida catching waves way before they start breaking closer to the sand.
And here is one of Josh’s sons following in daddy’s foot steps… it’s great to see a family surfing together!
It’s been a while since the last time I saw Dominique out there surfing, welcome back in the water girl!
Dominique wasn’t the only girl in the water though, this other girl was having a blast too, catching only the good lefts that came to her.
Looks like the waves will stay this size for the whole week, hopefully also the shape too!
That’s all for today folks. Have a great week, we’ll try to keep you entertain as always!Nice seen you Josh! Enjoy your last days in Nicaragua and come back anytime! Cheers!!

Welcome to 2025 everyone! Happy New Year! Josh back behind the lens for the next few days. I basically pulled an all-nighter and woke up early to surf after the late night fiesta. The lineup was empty even at 8:00am and the waves were fun. I surfed then took photos.
