Nicaragua Surf Report for Friday, May 01, 2009

Today we’ve got Roberto “Lucha Libre” Garcia with the first report of this month.  We woke up super early in the morning and headed out to the beach to ride some fun waves with a few locals.  It was running about waist to shoulder high on sets with great form, the wind was offshore and the water was nice and warm.  Check out the lineup.

When we first got there nobody was on the beach, only this chick that was camping out by herself.  Maybe somebody should take a tent out and give this girl some company.  I just kidding fellas!!!

Anyway, we paddled out and took advantage of the uncorwded lineup.  Here is our very good friend Larry “Carita de Venado” Davila with a killer front side turn on this left.  I’ve not seen this guy surfing for a while and today I watched him for two hours and I can say that he’s surfing so much better since last time I saw him out.  Good for you buddy!!!

Augusto “La Gaviota” Chamorro was able to take a ride with us to the beach as well.  He was doing some radical maneuvers all over the place, including this sick busting air.  Watch out for your brother Baloy because this year he’s starting to fly higher and higher.

Our very own Pancho Sanchez got a break today and he made it out to the beach so excited to score some fun ones.  Check him out with a powerful maneuver on this left.  Who said that he’s getting old?

Later on, more people showed out to the beach and were taking plenty of killer waves too.  This is Mr. Sandwich smacking the lip of this thing.  Nice to have you back in the water peanut butter!!!

A few longboarders took their big pangas out and were killing it.  Here we have a shot of one of them riding a nice peeling left all the way in to the beach

The lineup was very mellow today, there were only about 10 or 12 guys having fun together and we still had some waves coming in with no takers.  Check out his beautiful peak with nobody on it.  What a shame uh?

“El Tuzo” Morales was out for a while because he’s under training right now.  He wants to be our next photographer so he had to work a little bit before he made it out.  Here we caught a sweet shot of him about to throw the lip of this right.

“El Tuzo” had a good time in the water today but he was not lucky enough to make it back home safe.  On the last wave he took he hit his board pretty bad and got hurt.  As soon as we got back into town he made it to the clinic and got a couple stitches.  Cuidado con el coco my friend!!!

On the way back home we found a painful accident.  We really don’t know what happened but you can see the lines on the road where that car slip and flip about 2 or 3 times.  Please be carful when you are driving around because we don’t want this kind of things happening in town.  The waves are supposed to be a little bit smaller tomorrow but it should be still pretty fun, so stay tuned with us.
