Somewhere in Nicaragua

Like I said, you picked a good day to check our report and an even better day to surf! Fasten your seatbelt and enjoy today’s barrel fest!!

Oscar Espinoza was dominating today! He picked off some beautiful cylindrical gems. Case and point.

Locked and loaded… How’s the view bro???

He shows off a phenomenal balance of drawing that high line without letting your fins slip. Nice wave Oscar!

Timmy Hayes is a good buddy from Managua. When he isn’t running a nonprofit teaching local Nicaraguans to swim, he locks into a few tubes himself. Timmy, how about we get some NICA Nadadores out there too?!

Ben Clark is another friend who is in town. All those trips down south to Hatteras have bode well for this muchacho’s barrel riding.

For the sunset session, we picked off rippable rights that cruised to the beach. I think I would have preferred this right though… It’s been fun surfing with you Ben and let’s keep getting after it!

But, remember the ocean sometimes bites back… Even though Chris Conner broke his board, he was still smiling and upbeat. “Ohh well, bummer but I was stoked to get a few and some grom will love this Mayhem!”

Señor Rafa Gomez is back in town! He picked off a few of those insider rights. Plenty of space to either tuck in or tear up the face. Not to mention, everybody was concerned about the set waves.

I watched endless beautiful rights peel through all morning. On the other side of the rip, a couple lefts slipped through. Check it out!

I heard a sunset report that some world class lefts were grinding last night. Looks like that report was accurate and there were still a few good ones today.

This unknown surfer got a sick one (along with the 20 photo sequence). I shot a ton of great waves so reach out to me at[email protected]for your shots. You’ll make your friends back home jealous that they didn’t come.

Louie had enough of a soft wave yesterday so I knew he want to find something a little more serious. Ask and you shall receive bro!

Well, maybe he still wanted to sneak a turn or two in there too!

I want you guys to check out this next sequence and tell me what you see. In this photo, I see a surfer locking into the spot and I see another guy about to burn him.

Then in this photo, I see the same guy that burned the other guy about to eat sand. We recommend being cool and respectful in the water but if you’re going to rob a wave, at least own it and get slotted.

I bet the guy that was originally getting barrel still would have been inside that beauty. And a beautiful wave she was.

Go ahead, keep looking bro… But paddle out there and go get one yourself!!!

Oscar is probably my favorite surfer to watch get tubed backside. Two reasons: he has a picturesque pigdog stance and he makes so many of this waves. You can’t help but smile (and drop some Juicy J lyrics too).

How about Carlos Perez? That guy routinely gets the biggest, meanest, and deepest barrels. He might be my favorite frontsider barrel rider. Exactly similar to Oscar, you can’t help but be stoked and cheer him on when he paddles back out.

Yesterday looked pretty mean but today was more makeable (still had some bite to it though). I know that lip is heavy bro, but stand tall and claim it!!!

So how many more photos do you guys want to see from today? Because I’m getting kind of hungry and I’m about to head across the street to Sidebar. Tonight is Dustin Barco’s film premier so we’ll see some more next level barrel riding. Remember that Thursday is Burger Disco and Friday is Ladies Night/Cinco de Mayo!

However, resting up and being ready for the next day’s surf doesn’t sound like a horrible idea either.
