Kevin weaving away on his stretch board to generate some speed while he has the space before the barrel gets tight on him.
Now for the disappearing act.
Section after section. Kevin kept pushing ahead.
It would’ve been easy to have fallen off with this tighter section, but I knew in my gut Kevin wasn’t going down on this one.
If you look closely here you even see the lip tapping Kevin’s back. It’s very tricky to keep your balance when the lip is trying to push you down.
The final “stretch”…
Mission complete. Sick one amigo.
He leveraged the adrenaline spike by laying all of his remaining speed and power out on rail.
Even the boogey’s were getting inverted out there. ROLLO
Jackson loved the lighter wind and took advantage of the favorable conditions for airs and spins.
Lesther joined the club and bucked some fins and tail too.
Jackson… What’s the rule about picking your nose? Haha
BANG! Lesther got some serious height on this end section boost. I’ve been liking Lesther’s commitment during his airs lately.
Jackson is one of those guys who completes 50 to 70% of backside air reverses he goes for. He and Oscar have this particular move on lockdown.
Kevin went for the craziest air of the day too. Craziest barrel and craziest air.
At this stage I still didn’t know what sort of rotation he was going for.
Turns out he was going for a backflip! Kevin pushes the limits of bleeding edge moves. He doesn’t ride out of all his moves, but the fact that he comes so close to completing some wild moves is admirable.
Lesther doing his best flying saucer imitation again. Backside air revo gang.
Gavin Doan put together a nice combo representing us gringos haha. He had some stiff competition out there this morning.
One last fin slide to close the report. It was an absolute shred sesh this morning. I expect similar conditions and shredders tomorrow. Surf season is providing! Hasta mañana.
