Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, June 01, 2024

Josh S

Hey everyone. Welcome to Saturday evening’s surf report from Playa Colorado. The waves faded quickly today in terms of size relative to yesterday, but we received a surprise pulse of sets right at sunset.

Josh S

This guy better transition back over his toe-side rail quick or his fate is sealed.

Josh S

Dani working on his rail game and chucking some buckets at the other surfers out the back. Watch out!

Josh S

This guy here has the right approach. Eyes on the prize (lip-line and exit). Compressed stance with back knee forward some. Good set up to enjoy the vision.

Josh S

Jackson in attack mode throwing his tail and fins out the back with style. Everyone likes to see a critical end section maneuver.

Josh S

Could be more than water coming over this guy’s head in a second lol. For those coming to visit and reading this, please do your best to only seriously paddle for waves that you have a realistic chance of making. Also use sound judgment in deciding how much to “back someone up” when they are in a better position than you. Lapses of judgment on the part of visitors have been common so far this year.

Josh S

This guy really wanted to stall! He used as much surface area as possible to create drag here.

Josh S

I always get excited when I see girl surfers take really good approaches on hollow waves. That is the next frontier for women’s surfing, good barrel riding IMO. This chica nailed the set-up and line here.

Josh S

It was hollow this evening, but you had to draw forth your inner contortionist skills to fit into the mini-tubes.

Josh S

Rights dominated the lineup, but there were some sick lefts too.

Josh S

No barrel left behind.

Josh S

A little ahead of the section, but a good wave and decent approach from the surfer. Opening his hips, front foot and torso more might’ve helped him take a slower and tighter line.

Josh S

Become one with the lip haha! That wraps up today’s report. The waves surprised to the upside at sunset. Hopefully more pleasant surprises tomorrow. That being said it’s forecasted to be fairly small. Anyways catch ya tomorrow.
