Nicaragua Surf Report for Wednesday, June 05, 2024

Josh S

Hi everyone! Welcome to Wednesday’s surf report from Playa Colorado. The wind was light onshore this morning and the size wasn’t too hectic just yet. Overall better conditions than I expected.

Mike Doan gets to open today’s surf report. He’s simultaneously blocking and blasting here haha. Can’t leave openings right?

Josh S

A visiting surfer making good use of the steep pockets provided by the light onshore flow around mid-tide this morning.

Josh S

Will gliding with some smooth style. He put in a solid session this morning! Or maybe it was two sessions? I was in the water earlier in the morning and he was out, but when I came back to shoot he was still getting plenty of waves. Big board big reward.

Josh S

Another visiting surfer putting forth his best effort to fan his feathers. It’s tough to do snaps on the fatter inside waves.

Josh S

But if you put the same guy with the same force on a higher quality wave, then wallah! Buckets of spray abound!

Josh S

Many of the smaller to medium size waves were long, but slow paced. This guy knew what he could and couldn’t get away with in terms of force of maneuvers and matched his tempo to that of the wave.

Josh S

Check it out, this guy is using the force to throw spray haha!

Josh S

He carried some speed through to the inside section and pulled off a pretty impressive slide-y turn given the lack of slope on offer.

Josh S

When the West wind blows it’s chop-hop time! Leverage the extra loft from the wind.

Josh S

Slow, steady, and good sequence of rotation. Nothing crazy, but smooth surfing. Makes it look easy out there.

To close today’s report, we have Mike Doan launching full blast into this punchy end-section. No wonder he was practicing his face guard form earlier haha! Mike is familiar with punchy onshore conditions so he rode through this move easily. All in all we got lucky that the conditions were still fairly manageable and tame today. Nothing to ride home about but better than forecasted this morning. If the winds remain like this the next two weeks then I’d say that’s a positive outcome relative to what is forecasted haha!
