Somewhere in Nicaragua
Hey everyone! Welcome to Thursday’s surf report from Colorados. The true evil winds have arrived haha! A few undeterred surfers braved the onshore flow in hopes of grabbing a few keeper rides.
There was one surfer who had the creativity and keen eye to spot a few corners at the mirage, aka “Deep South” peak. The wave pictured here was a full on mutant haha. Check out the uneven lip-line from backwash, lumps, and raw power showing up in the swell. I took photos for a fair bit and have to admit that it was actually better at Mirage Peak, than at the standard peaks. The paddle out down there did not look fun though haha!
Back up at our standard peaks the surfers made what they could of today’s conditions. My opinion is that this guy could’ve made better use of this section had he set-up for a drawn out roundhouse instead of a sharper snap turn.
Mirage Peak wasn’t the only spot on the beach with heavy waves. Even the middle peak had some monsters rolling through.
This surfer locked in to the pocket of this wave nicely. It’s a shame the wind is onshore, as he probably could’ve squeezed in for a tube if the wind was offshore and the first section was open instead of closed.
He worked his way down the line in hopes of more opportunity, but had to straighten out when the wave started to barf at him haha!
This surfer did well today. He was efficient in his paddle-outs, he had relatively good positioning in the line-up, and he made an effort to stay busy catching waves. Because of his overall advantageous approach to the session, he managed to find a few rippable corners like this little left.
Wham! He was fortunate to stroke into this larger left set which gave him more speed to work with. His body mechanics were solid through his snap.
I told you this guy was clued in to the optimal strategy today. Instead of straightening out or goofing off after the wave shut down, he launched himself out the back to save some time and energy paddling back out.
Hey! Our homie down Deep South managed to snag a fun corner. His patience and decision was rewarded with a fun left that offered him a few sections to work across. Most surfers were “over it” today (and reasonably so) so this is all I’ve got for you viewers today. Tomorrow will likely be more of the same. Hopefully a few more surfers get stir crazy and give me some more content to work with tomorrow haha! PEACE.

Hey everyone! Josh back behind the lens for a few days. The swell today is the largest it has been in about two weeks. It was still slow between the sets, but there were a few one hour windows and pulses.

Welcome to the Sunday surf report. It was a bit of a drizzly day, but the winds were calm and the water water super glassy. So it was another good day to be out in the surf!
