Hard to imagine this is our well groomed favorite wave of Nicaragua, right? But like all things in life.. you can’t always have it perfect every day. Because then what would you have to look forward to after all the chaos?!? Everything in moderation, equals appreciation.

Still, this does not look like fun. Not to mention the antibiotics this guy might be picking up later at the local farmacia.

Mike was making it look pretty easy out there today despite the unruly conditions.

Better to just sit back and do some crafty stuffs today, like my friend here.

I do have to applaud these guys’ efforts and dedication though. Trey came over today from Gigante, yet nothing was going to slow down his speed carve through this Willy Wonka chocolate factory looking wave.

Could this pass as some remote isolated surf place somewhere in the middle of the indian ocean… sure. But it could also be summer in Florida. See, we’re not as different here in Nicaragua as people might think we are.

As an artist, I personally favor a change in the watercolor, especially when we have subsequent changes in weather patterns here. I mean look at those shades of doo doo brown against the aqua azul! Beautiful!

I’m not sure if I want to call this thing a root beer float or a plumbers nightmare. But this dudes cutting through that foam like a champ!

Followed by a sorta-off-the-top-but-not-quite. Good effort in obviously challenging conditions amigo!

I think he’s very satisfied by it… which works for me. Check out that grin!

Oops spoke too soon. Se quedó dormido del agua del río!

Best bet today was to play it safe and stay high and dry, like trying out the slack line here; like my little buddy Blake. Dude, you’ve got some great balancing skills!

There once was a time when I didn’t see a single person on this beach, even on the best of the best of days. Goes to show how amazingly family friendly this place has gotten over the years.

Back to the clinical action. These dudes seriously were digging in the trenches of Leptospirosis out there and deserve a medal of valor for their service! At least I would award them, since I very much needed some content and these guys were my soldiers today!

Another great outdoor activity if you don’t feel like surfing today, fishing for camarones. I for one might question the origin of my food source though.

The local quota inspector. “you’re gonna have to catch more than that, buddy”.

Needless to say, when you score, you score! Plus the locals have been doing this kind of thing for decades. Stomaches made of steel (not like us non-locals) I bet this guys is going to have a feast tonight!

Did you know this is the tallest building in all of Tola, maybe Rivas, possibly anywhere between here and Managua even? They have a pretty strict/cool ruling here that doesn’t allow for very tall buildings, let alone skyscrapers. So this is our skyscraper!

Look at thing, its getting bigger..!!!

and all that sand has to go somewhere.. (hint-hint)!!

Look, a coconut. Why?? Because it was there!

The locals can scale the trees for aforementioned coconuts without any problems at anytime.

or if you’re tall enough, you can just grab them. But please always remember that they need to be ripe! Never waist a baby coconut that still needs to grow into adulthood, so it can be enjoyed without wasting!

Kai, calling it a day.

Speaking of calling it a day… this is quite possibly the finest place to be for a Friday considering our current conditions. Rest up, chill out, drink up, whatever it is you like to do to pass the times.. make it all happen and have fun. As Arnold said it best… The SURF WILL BE BACK!!! Until then, stay dry and watch them slippery roads amigos! ~ ¡Adiós!
