Somewhere in Nicaragua

The waves certainly weren’t the largest today, but some of the sets had great shape! This gentleman was getting technical and weaving through the mini tunnels out there. The water color was amazing today as well. The emerald/turquoise color that all surfers dream of.

He opted for the doggy-door exit, but I think he might’ve been able to pump and squeeze through the open second section shown above. I sometimes make conservative moves like this while surfing to ensure I’ve got a few “makes” under my belt before getting too risky/crazy haha

I was getting serious deja-vu from these mini-drainers and the solid green pipes from the Super Mario games. You’re a real OG if the Super Mario Bros. Theme is playing inside your head right now.

It wasn’t all tubes out there today. A few of the shredders managed to get near vertical despite the small wave faces.

The only perspective more aesthetically pleasing (the emerald colors) than our’s, is the perspective from inside the tube itself. I bet the handful of guys surfing at mid-day today were pinching themselves.

Only 5 to 8 guys out and crispy clean little tubes. Seems like a pretty good deal for these guys here on vacation 🙂

The regular footers out there had to represent their faction! They couldn’t let the goofy guys pull into all of the tubes! This guy did well to contort and compress enough to squeeze into this little barrel.

This shredder is earning some solid points in the “style/flow” category. Check out how low and open his front palm is! He is using this hand as a pivot point for his roundhouse cutback.

It was a goofy foot’s lineup today though. The lefts were hitting the sandbar straight outside of my access perfectly. Now that I think of it, the shape of the set-waves were so similar that it reminded me of Kelly’s pool, where each wave is close to a carbon copy of those prior to it.

Ok ok… There were still a couple of good rights out there if you were patient. This guy’s patience paid off with this nugget. I think this barrel was as wide as it was tall!

Fresh fish for dinner? I’ve seen a couple of different fishermen selling their fresh catch to the foreigners visiting here in Iguana. Fresh fish off the beach is delicious, and an authentic experience for visitors, so I’m sure they are happy to patronize the locals with some business. That’s all of today’s surf action from Iguana!
