Nicaragua Surf Report for Saturday, June 24, 2006

We've got some fun, head-high waves out here at Maderas today. The winds are offshore and the crowds are light. This is the peak at Machete Point.

We've had a great response from people wanting to contribute to the first ever Nicaraguan National Surf Team contest in Costa Rica next month. So far we've raised enough money to send 5 local surfers. Believe me when I tell you these guys are stoked. Thanks to everybody who contributed! There are still several qualified local surfers waiting in the wings to see if they can go. If anybody else can help out a little, shoot us an email to [email protected]. Thanks again.

oooo-la-la, Roberto, you've done it again.

Fun waves were had by all today. This is young Eric, checking out the right off the rocks.

Well, first things first - we'd like to thank the CA crew who are completely surfed out and leaving the NSR Beach House today. These guys scored great waves for the whole trip. It was great to have you guys down (even you Christian). Have a safe trip home and come back soon.

Out in front of the NSR Beach House awaiting our new arrivals the waves are still fun. It's about head high with offshore winds and the sky is overcast and threatening to drizzle. This guy dropped in a second too late for this one.

The passing clouds sometimes make interesting lighting conditions at the beach. I was a little late with the camera on this one - the light was making the spray off the back into a spectrum of colors. By the time another wave came in, it was over. ...still cool lighting though (and a nice little barrel)

Annie was ripping as usual, although today, we happened to catch this "funny" shot. It happens to the best of us. Oh yeah - Happy Birthday too!

This weekend is the birthday celebration for San Juan (St. John in english). Accordingly, there were all kinds of festivities going on. This one is where they paint up the plastic men, surround them with plants and lift them way up high.
